Default HKS Hi-powered exhaust

i just wanted to know mainly have the exhaust, i love the sound and i love everything about it, but what i wanted to know is will it reduce hp? with or without a header? Because my friend who has an RSX type S read on his forums about certain exhausts will take away hp due to the diameter of the exhaust and stuff, i just wanted to make sure before i get an the exhaust cause I'm actually planning to get it soon, but may have to postpone it if ill lose hp. Thanks

you'll notice a loss of low-end and some high-end gain but you won't get much of any gain untill you upgrade your whole airflow system. most exhausts are that way

you won't notice any gain or loss...because it's 2whp at the most. I used to have the Hi-power and the only noticeable difference was the sound. The only way it would lose hp is if you get 3"piping to replace the rest of the exhaust system

What your friend read about, only applies when you buy an exhaust which is made for a F/I car, but u have a N/A car. Basically, the F/I exhausts are made with a larger diameter, for the increase in gasses. If you have a N/A car, with a large pipe (over 2.5 inches [ some say 2.25 ]) The exhaust fumes actually cool down and become more dense, because of the large piping, making the engine work harder to push the gases through, which results in a loss of hp.

what's the recommended pipe sizing for our n/a tC's? everyones distributing 2.5" exhaust systems for our cars, so im guessing 2.5" then?

hmm i see, so if i don't have the header ill gain hp regardless i assume? O one more thing isn't the exhaust pipe for the HKS hi-powered exhaust 3"? Im pretty sure the exhaust isnt an exhaust made for F/I cars right because i dont plan on getting any F/I until a long way down the line lol.

the HKS hi-powered is not 3"...it has a 2.5" inlet into the cannon and the tip is 4.25" or 4.5"...something like that

o alright xD thx =D cz i kept thinking the HKS hi powered was a 3" so i was afraid i'd lose hp =( but now i know so its ok. You guys think its ok if i get exhaust first then header? because header is a bit more problematic because of the o2 censor thing and stuff.

yeah that's fine, just make sure that you get a resonator with your header or you'll sound like a Honda

o ok thx =D, hmm one quick question about the header, if i want like lets say a alphawerks header, and of course i need to have a o2 censor, will i need to buy another o2 censor because the one the car comes with its like melted onto the header? because when my friend put in the DC header for someone the o2 censor was like super welded on to the header so he had to buy another o2 censor to put on the DC header.

exhaust system sounds MUCh better without headers.. my HKS sounds like a ____ty honda sometimtes, even with a big ___ 22 inch magnaflow resonator!!!

i have megan racing headers.

that kinda sucks if the hks is only 2whp cuz the greddy axle backs are pretty decent at 6-7whp

umm...no greddy axlebacks are the same...no axle back is gonna make over 5whp.CSOCSO, you have different piping done to your exhaust system so it's gonna sound different...just the HKS axleback, headers and a resonator sound fine...heard it from a few people on here

ah ic well alright thanks for all the help guys =D. O before i go just wanted one last piece of information. Does the exhaust fit on other car engines such as the RSX or a Civic Si? or is it different for every car?

due to the design under the car and the axles...it is application specific so it will only fit the car it says it will fit on

isnt't there a thread on here that dynoed the greddy evo2 and sp2 and showed 6-7 gains?

btw my friend said i have lot of rasp in first then its okay.
he was on my left with his integra.. usually 1-2 car behind me!!:D:D:D:D
