HKS Short Ram - finished & installed w/ pictures
thanks for all the comments folks.
yes HKS does make a cold air intake for the '05-'06 tc:

it uses the stock upper piping as seen above. this doesnt really apply to me though since i wanted to switch from CAI to short ram for the rainy season. however if there's someone else who is running a custom HKS short ram like mine i'd love to see how they fabbed up theirs!
lol mine was scratched to hell as well, and its even more scratched after taking it out today.

Oh and thanks anyway, I'll just have to look into repolishing my lower section some how. I'll probably see what I can do when I takethat part off to convert to tCeeder intkae for the winter lol

Oh I also forgot to ask, do you know how the HKS dry filter element compares to the Injen oiled filter element as far as filtration goes? I want to make sure the air going into my engine is clean as possible :-)
quoted from HKS:
"HKS replacement Filter Elements are available in a dry 3-layer, triple density or wet 2-layer, dual density construction. The dry 3-layer type is standard in SMF Reloaded Intake kits, and is designed for superior filtration while still providing excellent airflow. The wet 2-layer type is included in Racing Suction kits and is focused on maximizing airflow for performance, yet still keeping harmful particles from the engine. If your vehicle is in a high dust area, HKS recommends using dry 3-layer elements."

the blue one i have installed is 2 layers, the red one i also have is 3 layers. you can tell the difference by looking at the edge of the filter.
in other news, i love the sound this thing makes at WOT!!

if you'd rather go new, you can buy the pieces (inlet, cage and filter) seperate on different websites or alltogether (minus the filter) on ebay.
