I don't think that weather stripping on a tc is 1 inch. but could be affective. the only problem I see is the wind hitting the cowl and reversing the effect. lifting the hood takes the outlet above any disruptions so you may have better luck that way.

The reason why you see so many hondas with the hoods lifted this way is not for venting heat, its because they are using hood dampers and the way hood dampers are set up on hondas doesnt allow them to close the hoods completely flat, I had them on my old 95 coupe and it was lifted just like that, i hated it!!

Lifting the rear should make it function as a cowled hood. A lot of 60 and 70's muscle cars had it from the factory.

My 76 Vette had a low cowl that I made functional and at +500whp when it would start to heat up a bit after a few hard miles I would pop it open another inch or two to the secondary latch (Corvette hoods open from the rear) and the temp would drop substantially.

any cooling gains are negliable. 240sx guys (me being one of them) debate over the functionality of it. in addition to venting engine heat, air that enters the engine bay through the grill/radiator has no where to go so you got a parachute effect going on. so in theory hood propping seems like a good idea. Toyotas and Nissans run much hotter than Hondas, so it would be more beneficial for our cars.
dude normally i'm not much for chrome wheels on a tc but those look really good on your car. are they SSR's?

if the tC's hood didnt have those creases on the sides, it would look good lifted.

the latest print of import tuner has an article on lifting the rear of the hood and you can see a few graphs showing the heat differences. check it out

Since my IATs go through the roof because my FI set up radiates hot lava I'm resurrecting this thread! The X1 tunes off of the MAF and takes into account IATs vs MAP based EMS's.

I thought people did it for styling but if there are cooling effects I'm willing to give it a shot. How many washers do people generally use? I'm going to give it a try and record the IAT data from my OBD II scan tool for real numbers to compare. I'm considering a vented hood but they aren't very subtle and having to worry about rain is a turn off.

That is ridiculously ugly. Just buy a vented hood.

If you don't care on looks and anything getting wet...

Well getting a vented hood, things would get wet anyway. I honestly feel like it doesn't look bad at all... closes the gap in the front a little.
