Some clips from their site can be found below. I have yet to hear someone complain about their system and/or break one. The choice is up to you.

"In drag-race style, straight-line acceleration runs, this results in a close to ideal 50/50 power split to both drive wheels, resulting in essentially twice the grip of an ordinary differential (they don't call open diffs "peglegs" for nothing."

"The Quaife also controls loss of traction when the front wheels are on slippery surfaces such as ice and snow or mud, providing the appropriate biased traction needed to overcome these adverse conditions. The Quaife Differential provides constant and infinitely variable drive. Power is transferred automatically without the use of normal friction pads or plates seen in other limited-slip designs."

"The Quaife ATB Differential comes with something else other's don't have:
a Limited Lifetime Warranty. This warranty applies even when raced !"

if your NA, you dont need it - honestly. I got my TRD lsd installed and got it out of the shop last week. Its f'ing wicked.. car hooks up right away and there is LIMITED slip when I start hitting some PSI's. Before I could spin one tire as long as I wanted in first and second, and still had minor wheelspin shifting from 2nd to 3rd.

You will get better performance from a GOOD set of tires if your NA. However, if your making some decent power, even good rubber wont keep contact.

Also, the TRD LSD will cost you WAY more than $1000.. just a fyi.

TRDsparks sells it for $1100, PLUS shipping (its heavy). so figure another $35

NOW, you need the trd lsd install kit - some taper bearings, shim kit, new spedo gear (you looking at another $180 in parts)

Toyota lists it out as a 8 hour install job as well. so figure another $700.
All said and done? around $2 g's.
While I was at it, I added the TRD clutch, I mean.. your right there.. so its either now or never.

I agree it is almost a necessity if you're forced induction and gets rid of all that understeer you have even NA. If you race or autocross the car it is worth it even NA. Turbo it is required in my opinion.

yea I was gonna say, its not just for those wanting to accelerate faster. It would help you in cornering a whole lot too, as Guru just pointed out. I would have to agree turbo/supercharger/autocrosser/and/or/track goer id say get it. Otherwise spend 1200-1700 on a nice set of wheels and tires and you'll get a good amount of traction. Another thing, unless you have a lot of power i.e. turbo, it may actually slow your acceleration down due to power loss and weight. So yea

i've had an lsd since august, it makes a huge difference, even if your not boosted, handling and moving away from a stop is easier, driving in slippery conditions is easier.

under hard acceleration, the car just goes whereever they are pointed. now i'm supercharged, and it just works great keeping the power going to the wheels.

Keep the review going, i dont see much review on this so its a good thread.

To me though, you wont be benefiting much on this unless you drive at least aggressive or do some performance driving, sure traction helps especially in wet/snow but for the cost, you will be better of getting some good tires. For enthusiasts, it really a good thing to have

the installation cost is high for the lsd. but if you can afford it go for it!

im currently N/A and the car handles much better now. acceleration out from a corner or from dead stop is better, I tried playing with it on wet winding roads the other night..it helps but it doesnt mean you can go all out and be crazy, coz there are some instances that it'll still act like an open diff.. im still trying to get used to its characteristic.

overall, good product.....im satisifed/happy with my car now. :D
i hope that every tc comes with the lsd standard but with pricing i do understand

its the same exact thing.

i'd get the trd lsd because it will retain the factory powertrain warranty if purchased new and installed by a trd /toyota/scion service garage. which is important, because i had p-tuning instally my trd lsd for 700, and they royally f-ed it up and i spend another 1800 having my transmission overhauled because since it was installed by a third party.

also, kanundrum had his installed by a dealership, it cost him $500 i believe.

o man, sorry to hear that...what happened with the install? dealerships around my area would like to charge me an arm and a leg just for the lsd installation...heck, when i first called they didnt even know what LSD stands for and what it does, they have to call me back...hehe

JE import performance installed mine...friendly people, props to them. $500 by a dealership? what a deal! good for him

Even when you get your LSD installed by a TRD/Toyota/Scion garage, you still have to purchase a TRD install kit?

yeah, otherwise they'd have to order it and ofcourse charge you msrp for it instead of what sparks charges for it.

i installed the Quaife LSD on my tranny and i have to say it was worth it!!

as many before have stated, it helps in acceleration in corners, moving from a stand still in wet conditions, etc. it also helped A LOT during the winter season when i had to drive in snow...especially up hill.

FYI, i'm NA at the moment debating whether or not to drop the money on a turbo or make a down payment on another car.
