Default How many miles do I have to baby the new engine for?

I'm at 560 miles.

How much longer do I have until I can drive spiritedly?

At 5000mi, should I let the clowns at Toyota change my oil (free) or should I put the do it myself and use Mobil 1?

I'm trying to figure out the reason behind these questions. Are you just asking for opinions, or simply need other people to tell you what to do?

Some say redline it immediately, other say wait until 1,000 miles, but you decide for you & your car.

Yes, either have Toyota change your oil for free or do it yourself and use Mobil 1. 5,000 miles is a good time to change the oil, which is the most important thing, not price or brand.

There is no right or wrong "absolute" answer to either of the questions asked.

lol I love how you follow me around and reply with smartass comments everywhere I go. Really, I do. It almost makes me think you have nothing better to do. I'm sure other new members to this forum love the harassment as well.

The reason you keep getting these questions is because that sticky that homo posted is not on the list of stickies on the drivetrain & power section. If it was, I would have clicked it. In other words, move it from "general forums" to a tc specific forum. People are always going to look for information pertaining to their exact situation, not a general scenario.

I had my car on the track holding redline for a good 5-7 second on the straightaways with only 650ish miles on the car. Mine is still alive and running.

Hmmm. Free oil change or you doing it yourself for 30-50 bucks?? No brainer

Can't read your owner's manual either, eh? You obviously didn't get the meaning behind my rhetorical questions, as your answer didn't apply. I didn't ask because there have been so many others who have asked the same questions, but because I wanted to see if you could THINK. Based on your response, you've confirmed my suspicions, so I'll have to refrain from replying to any further inquiries you post.

At around mile 4 I dumped it into 4th at 80 during the test drive.

So I would say 5 miles is good. Also note I fully expect to blow at least 1 engine in this car.

I think the topic has been covered. No need to make this a sticky here when it is already covered in the MAINTENANCE forum. That's why we have a maintenance forum. So we don't have to have that same sticky in all of the other forums. Just pointless.

And if people can't read their owner's manual... that's their problem. If they don't have one, it's still their problem... GO GET ONE!
