Default How much time does a short shifter save in 1/4 mile time?

I am thinking about getting a short shifter..

I'm wanting to see how much it actually helps in the 1/4 mile time.

I'd say it would take off a 1/4-1/2 of a tenth in the quarter mile. That's just a guess though.

To me is doesn't make you faster, it just takes the stress out shifting through the gears, making it way better for track and daily use

Depends

Somepeople do better some don't after installing the shortshifter.

If you can save .01 seconds. a hundreth of a second your car starts putting power back down. Since we have to shift 4x in the 1320 you potentially could save .04 seconds or more.

the feel is great - it makes driving better. The overall time savings ...well.... I wouldnt get this mod if you are looking for a performance gain because the throw was long but you arent driving a UPS truck.

It makes you faster in the sense that you'd get across the line quicker snatching through the gears than you would missing a gear

I just installed my TWM stage 2 shifter yesterday and so far have only had 1 day of first hand experience with the shifter. The only advice i could give is get a weighted shift **** too. Gears require a little more "persuasion" with a shorter throw/height-- just like a fulcrum, (balanced see-saw)-->Move the midpoint closer to any given side and the shorter side requires more weight to lift the opposing side.

Probably like a 10.23 or something like that.. CAI/Header and the short shifter will bring you down to a 9.8x-9.9x

what would help significantly is replacing the dumb drive by wire system which has a VERY noticeable delay when quickly closing and reopening the throttle plate between shifts. I read an article on the Acura TSX which also has this issue. Just by powershifting (keeping the gas pedal depressed while shifting) they were able to shave nearly half a second of 0-60 and 1/4 mile. However I would strongly recommend against doing this.

I think there is no way it would bring the time that low.

It was just a guess, but I don't think -.05 is really that unbelievable.

There is a simple solution to this problem. Dosen't resolve it, but certainly helps. Let me do a little searching to find the thread i discovered this in and i'll post it up.
