hey guys i switched over to synthetic Mobil 1 about 2500 miles ago and im wondering if i should change it every 3k or if im safe to change it every 5k

 

i change mine at every 5k, synthetic can go alot longer i heard sum people go up to 7500miles. but anywhere in between 3k and 5k is fine

 

depends how often you boost, you cant go wrong changing every 3k.. but stock 5k should be good

every 3k... my car every once in a blue moon after 3k miles... if i do a very very hard brake the oili light comes on... and goes right off...lol i use 10w30... our motors love to chug.

cant go wrong with recommended oil.. 5w30 for 05--06. 5w20 for 07 up

 

does anyone else tc CHUG oil like a ****... ive read its pretty normal to loose about 1 to maybe 1.5 QT of oil during oil changes on toyota motors

 

my car always does that. anywhere inbetween the 5k oil change interval i have to refill it wit 1 to 1.5 qts

 

mine doesn't chug oil at all... im able to fill back up all 4 bottles. i might be losing like an 1/8-1/4qt at most but that's probably also due to me spilling some on the ground haha

btw replacing that much is only normal for rotary engines lol

i thought sumthing was wrong wit my car but even when i bought the car it always did it. and i know sum people on here have this too but i dont think its bad my car isnt leaking or anything. and i heard its worse when u run synthetic oil, i could be wrong but sum mechanic told me and my brother that i dunno, but im not too worried bout it aslong as ur on top of ur oil changes and refill whenever its needed thats all that matters lol

yeah i think loosing 1qt-1.5qt in 3-5k is not very normal and something has gotta be wrong to cause that.

 

Actually, they changed the '06 to 5W20 as well...

i say give that a shot next time you change the oil and see if that lowers the consumption level.

 

I have since they changed the spec.
