i need to know how to install safc and if its actually worth installing in a tc. I used to have a 93 eclipse awd turbo and i had that laying around from parting it out. If ne one has ne pics or diagrams on wiring this up let me know. or if anyone has installed already let me know how it runs with it and what mods u have.

 

probabaly not to good..from what ive read on other forums with newer toyotas (2003corolla, vvti, newcelica, matrixowners) it is mostly pointless.

 

thanks for the info... it probably will be only more useful once i get a turbo in the future or the SC... but for like minor engine mods like headers, intake, exhaust, and such it prob wont be much help... some other people said that it kinda just levels out the power curve or something like that is that true?

well an safc is the abbreviation for SUPER AIR FLOW CONTROLLER...

naw, from what those people said, its something bout how toyota's ecu's overrides the safc. even those who were boosting werent using it...the popular one with the celica guys was the apexi powerfc (standalone) and with corolla and matrix guys was the unichip or split second a/f controller

 

super air FUEL controller

 

No, it's Super Air Flow Controller. It takes an input (i.e., MAF signal). You set the correction % at certain engine speeds. The SAFCII allows you to set a different correction every 500 rpm. The air flow controller then poops out a different number. This "adjusted" air flow gets sent to the ECU. That's how the A/F ratio gets adjusted. The HKS AFR has the added bonus of built-in fuzzy logic, but I think the tC has a learning ECU, so it's probably not worth the money. If you add an intake and reset your ECU, it should begin to adjust itself for the increased volume.

I have an Apex'I SAFCII sitting in a box from before I got the Greddy e-manage, so... if you really want one... LOL

 

I have both Greddy and Apexi electronics sitting at my house! I plan on using Apexi for boost and diagnositc management, but either the Greddy or stand alone for fuel management. Who knows, but we will know within 3-4 months what combinations are working for people once they start releasing all the turbo kits.

 

I know when I had my sentra it porduced gains up top in the powerband, because it ran rich where the ecu would normally run lean as you reach the redline
