Default How you shift you gear?

Today when I at work I ride with my co-worker to see my customer, the car he have is also a stick shfit like mine, and I have notice he only use clutch on 1st gear, and he didnt use clutch after he passed the 1st gear.... shouldn't that cause any gear grinding?! damage the transmision? So does he driving the car in the correct way? and have anyone else drive like that? please let me know if I should change my driving style like he does too or just keep it old school?

with proper rev matching.. it's possible.

otherwise your snychos are gonna have a REALLY FUN time..

i've done it.. but if you don't do it right.. you'll get some grindage...

i just shift as usual using the clutch normally.

with the clutch every time. simple as that.

you wanna try matching rpms ...do it on your company truck or something .... not your car.

Dude, you REALLY need to work on your typing skills...I had to read, reread, and then read again what you were saying. I was having trouble finding a pronoun! haha

But yea, I wouldn't want to mess up my tC trying to shift like that

I second the "children, do not try this at home". The damage being done to your precious car's insides are as serious as they sound when you mess up power shifting.

in my friends crx and type s its possible to shift without using the clutch. and yes there will be a bit of jerkage going on but from what i hear its nothing bad. i mean the clutch if you think about it is usually just for stop to first or stop to reverse and so on..

yes, please do not try it. I have done this before on my previous car a few times. Pulling the shifter into neutral without stepping on the clutch doesnt produce any nasty noises but as for damage, I dont know.
As Squall stated, it's like match revving but not exactly. See, there is a point where engine speed and transmission speed are perfectly matched..... such as shifting into the next higher gear off gas, clutch in, the RPMs drop and then stop at a point when the clutch is engaged. At that EXACT point/RPM, you are able slide the shifter into gear without stepping on the clutch.

hmm, if you don't use the clutch in other gears, doesn't that defeat the purpose of driving a manual....i mean, if your that lazy, you might as well drive a sport shift auto or smg....

well... driving without the clutch is actually a little more tricky and requires thought.

and you still are moving something with your right hand.

driving without a clutch is impossible..powershift is when you use the clutch but you only compress it to the point that you can shift your gear..
