I got beat by a GLI
So this Gli comes up to me and starts revving the engine and of course I rev back. Now the light turns green and I beat him for a good 8-10 seconds but then his horsepower catches up and just whoops me. What can I do to fix this, Im kind of new to this stuff so if people dont mind explaining things it would be nice.
Thanks
Thanks
1st) why are you trying to street racing? dumass...
2nd) What year GLI..if it was a 06-08..it has 2.0 Tubro motor the samething an A4 has but retuned.
3rd) You are probably NA and very close to stock! This is the main reason the GLI rolled you up and smoked you!

TRD exhaust and an AEM CAI wont beat a 12yr old on a 10spd. Good job street racing, next time you might not be so lucky. Dont give the excuse "there was knownone around" or "he reved first". what a typical loser you are!
i mean the whole thing bout that little story is I just wanted to know some mods I could do that could improve the 60 and up acceleration. I dont go around racing everyone who revs their engine at me. The kids in the car were just ____ing me offf. But whatever
Dude I wouldn't street race about a month ago I was racing one of my friends and a cop pulled out of nowhere and stopped me and my friend and impounded mine and his car and tookus both gojail we sat a night in there it sucked don't do it I learned my lesson lol
Aw dude, people typically just discourage street racing. In the various sections of the tC forums, there's a great list under the 'Buyer's guide' discussions.
If you want us to give you a wish list, tell us a few things:
A) How much you want to spend
B) Your bank account info, and
C) Your social security number.
Just kidding, just telling us A will be good.
Most people get mad when you ask what you should by for their car, because they're too lazy to make a list for you.. like me.

basically, this is what happened: you broke the law and participated in an unlawful contest of speed, endangered lives, drove recklessly, got PWNED, by a veedub, logged onto scionlife to tell us all about it, and ask how we can help you become a bigger danger behind the wheel of your car.
did i miss anything? can you tell me what you did wrong here? how about i bold, and underline what you did wrong:

your not smart enough to know what is acceptible behavior on the road, not smart enough to know that a majority of people here absolutely hate it when people log on and post about driving drunk, getting a ticket for breaking the law, and bragging or complaining about how they raced somebody on the street.
thank goodness your also not smart enough to figure out how to increase the horsepower of an internal combustion engine.

Honestly, I agree with the street racing. Keep it on the track, that way you dont wrap YOURSELF and your CAR around a damn telephone pole.
BUT if your looking to increase power, Read the threads on Forced Induction. TRD Supercharger (http://www.newscionparts.com/product/?id=78) and Greddy Turbo (http://www.sciongarage.com/product.p...6&cat=7&page=1) are some of the names and equipment I have researched (I went with the S/C because of some previous mods I had done).
Also, look at suspension and transmission. Flywheel, Shorter shifter, clutch, will all be helpful. TRD rear Sway bar, and TRD front strut bar are extremely helpful when turning, that way your not losing power to the turn, but keeping the car rolling.
Engine Dampners help with keeping energy to the wheels, and not lost in the movement of the engine. DME and Weapon R make some good ones.
Exhaust and Intake (including the whole exhaust system from the headers to the tail pipe) are something that wil help the car breath easier. Cold Air Intake by Injen is my pick, Strup Racing Header, and Dezod Exaust (CAT-Back) system.
ALSO, and probably something I would have never thought of unless someone on here had actually told me: YOUR WHEELS. The stock wheels for the tC weigh somewhere around 25lbs, EACH. Thats an additional 100lbs on your car (just to simplify it). SO, get lighter rims with better gripping tires. I suggest Yokohama AVS ES100 or the SPORT. Simply great tires, but expensive as Poop.
Some smaller things to also think about:
- Carbon Fiber hood (makes the car a little lighter, not by much, but still looks awesome).
-TRD Limited Slip Differential (Never slip ((HOPEFULLY)) again) [http://www.mcgeorgeparts.com/PD-PTR3...aspx?MakeID=1]
-Wilwood Brake System will help out with the quick braking
-AEM Engine Managment system will help you increase your power curve and let you tell your car what to do (IF YOU DO IT RIGHT) [http://www.aempower.com/ViewCategory...CategoryID=63]
Im going to put this out there: If you do all of this then you need to get your car tuned by SPECIALISTS every time you do. Your ECU wont be able to keep up with all this and you might (WILL) need to redo the whole program. So REflash and REprogram if you can after every major application.
Also, think about just not racing at all.... saves money and time :D

Ohh shiza...
I want to say im not encouraging you to do ANY of what I said. Imjust putting out there for you to THINK about.
PlEASE oh PLEASE dont race on the street. Lives are at stake. Go to a Track, or sign up with a local amature league AT A TRACK.
Think about it this way:
COPS, DEATH, LOSS OF CAR, DEATH, LOSS OF WIFE/GF, DEATH....
And... DEATH... yea, pretty much sums it up...
