Default I/H/E Question

when i was getting a car i chose this one because i wanted to mod my car for speed and racing type conditions in general autox and drag , anyways I know the first thing that i can do to increase power is i/h/e the intake i know how it works and what to get, headers iam pretty familiar with too now, but exhaust seems to be confusing, now naturally i want something that will perform better originaly i wanted trd axl back but then everyone here says that the gains are minimal, so i started looking at cat backs and eventually found the zpi racing full exhaust, the only prob i have with it is it looks very ricey. Like so many of those kids with civis and huge exhausts that are just there for sound, anyways i was jsut wondering what kinda exhaust can anyoen recommend iam looking for soemthing for performance (eventually i will have a s/c or a turbo not sure yet but def one of the two) but something that wont sound or look liek those ricer civics.

Creative compacts, draxas and megan all have full exhaust kits as well.

The CC exhaust with the Borla muffler and include a hi-flo cat and resonator and it won't sound like a can of bees like you'd associate with a Hon-duh.

I have an HKS and I luv it. I would definately suggest you check it out. Also if u dont want a ricey look -- get a Magnaflow, DC sports, or some some such muffler and let a shop bend you a catback.

Draxas.com has a very sweet set-up and it has a tip that looks stock and sounds deep and mean!!!! I got it and love it!!!

Im reserving judgement on that exhaust until I hear it with a header or get feedback from someone who has it with a header.

Actually now that I think about it i probably wont get the header since iam planing on turbocharging my engine next summer so without the header what exhaust would be good for a turbo and not look like rice civic i hate those huge exhaust tips the closer to the axl back toyota exhaust the better or should i jsut get that one

I would still say youd be looking at CC or draxas. They are the two out there that offer a full length s-pipe back and exit the rear in the standard location with a normal looking tip. Im still leaning toward CC because of the options available cat/res/muffler/ss and I like the design better. I have seen people commenting on the large 180 degree curve possibly being more restrictive than the draxas, but the draxas has a sharp 90 degree bend into the muffler which seems like it would be more restrictive to me. Im sure its negligible for performance, but I do like the idea of easily swapping out my muffler if something else comes along which you wont be able to do with the Draxas

Excellent.

Very quiet sound. Looks great. Power is superb for an axle-back.

I was planning on getting one, but I'm debating between it and some emissions-legal catbacks that cost about the same.

i have a greddy evo2 exhaust, alphawerk header, and a k&n intake. It was really raspy then i put the stock exhaust back on and it was very quieter. after that i feel so much better driving around without any rasp, now i have an greddy evo2 collecting dust in my garage.

needs a resonator, then.

Some people have super-raspy no matter what exhaust they use. The rasp is certainly the header's fault.

i have a custom 2.5" mid pipe high flow cat w/ resonator. greddy evo2 sounded so nice until the header went on and exhaust sound turn into bee hives. Most axle back exhaust with header will sound like can of bees. i suggest staying stock or trd exhaust with an header until someone find a solution.
