Default I need INFO

I just got a 2008 scion Tc. What is the most HP you can get out of a naturally aspirated engine on a Tc, and what parts I would have to get.

What transmission??? And do you care about the Scion warranty?

You might want to do an exhaust upgrade first... try Agency Power for a nice cat-back... (Our OE exhaust is crappy!)

Note: tC mufflers fits all years..

I've been working on N/A cars for 12 years now... (Don't ask me on turbo.)

The muffle is the crappiest part of the tC, It's restrictive enough to silence a Sienna "turbocharged" to sound like a Camry...

If you don't rev high to the 4500+RPM range the CAI will be a waste.

Also, if you change you headers and not add a high flow cat-con, your car will sound like a 250cc bike with a straight pipe exhaust.

The only mods that can give you power and sound for N/A is a full engine mod to make the car rev and breathe more for power. That's head upgrades, valves, high comp pistons, sleeves, rods, cams, even block and you need a tune and a lighter flywheel and stage 3 clutch... that equals to a lot of bucks!

It’s an M/T.
How hard would it be to get it up 200hp, with out turbo or supercharger? I don’t plane on putting one on for a while.

thanks for the help so far.

or you could just up grade your clutch like forpinks did and beat srt-4s and 350z easily. Just messin forpinks

If your wanting power sky* then FI would be the way to go for you. You can get some power out of our motor but it will cost you lots of mulla. We're talking about built bottom ends, built heads, the whole nine yards 4pinks mentioned with engine management. Since our ECU "learns" over time, a standalone will net you the most gain with the least hassle of it changing the tune, given that you know a really good tuner. For a complete built motor that I was looking/piecing together including the bottom and head was well over 12k. That was just the motor with a 8500rpm recommend redline, so you could say go near 9k with it given that you had some other things done to it. And was able to withstand putting out 550+whp when FI. Now you won't be obtaining that with NA but you need to allow the car to breath easier and get more air into the cyclinder as well. So possibly getting it bored and maybe stroked. Then our Intake Manifold is really f'ed up to help with emissions and noise and that garbage so you would need to upgrade that. There's only one company I know of right now thats even creating test parts supposedly on a tC for the intake manifold. Looking at an expensive part right there as well. Its possible to get some power out of it, but its kinda pointless really. By the time you sink all the money into the motor to do that...sure you'll be up there with stock v8s in the power area but another person with a stock tC can drop 2.5-5k on a turbo kit/clutch/flywheel and still beat your car. Although NA motors are very sexy sounding to me

200WHP is very easy! CAI, header, full race style exhaust (if you don't live in CARB areas), alternator pulley, EM Blue and you need a harness for PnP, 1step colder spark plugs, and a nice tune should get you up to 200WHP which is like 215 flywheel HP.

Down side of doing that is, you're tC will sound like crap if you do a straight without resonators and a muffler. (If you add those, your tC might sound sorta like a rally car.) And the expensive harness. (If your good on electronics and wiring, you could make it yourself for 50bucks!) Tuning should cost 150-500 depending on where you live...

I forgot, the high compression pistons and sleeves..

that's how you'll get it to 200+WHP... the I/H/E and EM should give you around 170-190WHP, which needs a higher grade clutch. (Stage 1 will do)

dude.... Theres peeps running 250whp turbo tCs with the stock clutch and its just now slipping. I'm sure a clutch is a non issue for awhile if your driving a 200whp NA motor, it will need replacing eventually depending on how you drive.

Ok so how much HP can I get by putting these Items on, cold air intake, headers, full exhaust, high performance spark plugs and wires. I also wanted to know what type of header and exhaust would make it sound really good.

Ok, for m/t your looking about 20whp on a REALLY good day. But 15-20whp is not imaginary. However, you do not need to upgrade the plugs or wires. We have iridium tips so they last forever, and the wires we have have capacitors built into the head of them. They are actually really good for stock from what I've been told by other knowledgable people on here. So those two things would be a waste of money unless you have to go a step colder or so once you start putting out higher numbers. Then you would just need colder plugs. Header & exhaust combos are kinda personal preference really. Everyone likes their own taste. The best thing to do is go to youtube and search for the different parts and hear what they sound like. I have DC header, Invidia s-pipe, and Magnaflow cat-back on mine and it sounds Ok-ish when the pipes warm up since I have an exhaust leak currently. Still has rasp after it warms up but not as much and when I have the money I'll put a resonator on and have it all welded up and it'll sound good again. But b4 the header was on the Magnaflow sounded really nice to me and looks like a normal muffler tip.

Don't go with bolt ons except for the headers.

You may want to take a look at flipped upside down rally cars, you'll see their rally style exhaust system... (It's not a straight pipe, it has a resonator and a mini highflow muffler, it looks like the DC sports and TRD muffler but it is pointed from front to rear instead of the sides, I think it has one resonator and I think a high flow cat sorta thing too...)
