I think it'd be cool to have a sponsor and all... but like everyone else has said, just going around asking to be sponsored probably isn't the best way. I haven't done much of anything to my tC at this point, so even trying to be sponsored for me is pretty useless. If I get into AutoCross more and do ok, maybe I'll consider it b/c then it would be good exposure for suspension / tire companies and such. But I'm not really worried about it right now.
lol the first picture is so crappy. if you want to show pictures of your car, don't take it just like that, with a messed up street sign and a crappy old car in the background. go spend some time to take pictures of your car by itself or with a beautiful background

• As a good citizen with the online forums, your active participation is a record for all to see. You don’t have to like what you see and if your going to reply you should be respectful. If your going to offer up your 2 cents you should also offer accurate and actionable suggestions. Don’t be a band wagon jumper and leave one liners like ew, fugly, what he said,
[My rule: Never send an e-mail or an online post that you would not send to your mother!]
• Show up at events and document them, take pictures of your ride but also think about the rest of the crew that did not make it. Take pics and offer up some play by play of the event. The all spokes model post doesn’t add much to the portfolio unless they are tastefully accenting your ride.
• Clubs are not required but as an active participant in local events get you recognized. Leadership, hard work, volunteering and supporting your crew and those that are not make you someone to look up to. When it comes time to get references you can rely on your contacts for them.
• The portfolios, always keep it updated and accurate, never fudge or stretch the truth. It is your personality, creativity, integrity and hard work that sponsors are looking for.

When companies sponsor you its cool, but when they tell you that you have to go to a set amount of shows AND report to the PR Rep at that show it's not as easy.
The only way to get really noticed is have your ride different from anyone elses, and if you go to the BIG NAME Shows. i.e NOPI Nationals, HIN's, and you pysically talk to the company there show them your mods, your future plans, and tell them why you think you would be good for them.
They like someone with a good mind set, and looks to help the COMPANY, not themselves. Couple months ago I got on with FAZE Gauges, they sent me stickers, business cards, etc etc, then I got an email showing what shows I had to go to. The minimum amount I had to go to was 3 shows.
You must also have a job that understands what you are into so that you can get that time frame to go to shows.
Being sponsored is not a glamorius lifestyle as what people think it is. Sure they send you their new products for free, but YOU have to spend the money to register for the show, gas to get there, hotels, etc etc.
If your on the Eastern Side, and pretty close to Atlanta, I'll be down at NOPI Nationals, run into me and I could maybe help you out more to get noticed. You just can't post on here saying "sponsor me"
Plus most big name companies already have their cars. Infact, for instance, while the 2004 Car Season was going on, big name companies was already looking for cars for the 2005 car season. Hence how I got noticed.
I ususally like to get local businesses to sponsor me. Like 2 weeks ago I picked up Lizard Graffix, new company that just started and they needed a car to do their advertising.
Yes a portfolio can help, but to tell you the truth, they are pointless. Companies don't really care about portfolios. They care more about getting the product noticed rather than looking at your resume.
As for pictures, those pictures will never work. You have to go to a secluded location where you won't be bothered and you can take great pics. Take Shots of the Exterior, Engine Bay, and Interior. Usually 4 shots on the exterior, 1 shot on the engine bay and 4 shots on the interior works. Don't over do the pics they hate that.
As for Mods, companies dont care about stock looking cars. They want MODS, and A LOT of them. They want something that kids see as "eye candy"
For instance, say you have your tC with a body kit, ICE, system,Engine work, etc etc and you go to a show, you pop your hood open your doors and hatch and when people start to come over to look at it, they will ask you where or how you did everything, THATS what companies like. They want something that will DRAW attention because the longer the person stays at your car, the better chance of them getting a product you got from your sponsor.
So before you leap into the "Tuner" world, check your financial status, and your free time, it's a rough style.
Good Luck

A mod should sticky one of these many threads that come out like this.
Its so hard to get sponsors. Especially if you're not a knock down dragout show winner. I've gotten some but im just really fortunate. I'm trying to get paint right now but its proving to be REALLY hard. i guess thats the price thats you pay. you gotta do somethings yourself, and hope to get some little stuff later!
