Default injen intake not what we wanted imo

hopefully this comes out but i was jsut one the injen website and they had the CAI for the TC and a dyno sheet for the gains the Tc had 140hp base and with eintake 147hp TQ wise it had 150.4 with intake 155.2 so it showed and increase of 7hp and 4.8lbs of tq here is teh link http://injen.com/2110_mkt.html so far imo it was not worth the wait to me the K&N proves more worthy with its 6hp and 6 lbs of tq gain, yes the injen creates one more hp, but lacks TQ, some people may like that some people wont this was just my opion and yes i do own the Typhoon CAI

injen numbers seem to be unreal. but people have to watch out w/ injen intake because it can run real lean. in the dyno pic. you can see it start off at 19 lean and final drive to be at 13.5 which is still pretty high. people have to watch out because running lean can actually hurt the motor.

I'll say it depends on your preference. 1 hp or 1 ibf/ft does not make a difference at all. It's all in the margin of error. Both intakes are good products and it really comes down to whether you like the looks of one or another.

yes it does, i want to see teh poweder black that they offer, but its true it will come down to what you like best, thats a small margin to say which one is better, but i did this because of all teh people that said they where going to wait for teh injen intake because it would surpass the K&N and as it shows not to much of a difference, just preferenace like you stated. Hmmm lean never heard about taht about injen very interesting

Thats true that running lean is a very dangerous thing for the motor, but all intakes make the motor run lean at one point or another because of the new introduction of extra oxygen. Im not too sure about the A/F ratio for the K&N because I havent seen it, but im sure injen is not running too lean, otherwise they wouldnt have released it. But I will agree with you that the intake does run lean, thats why most of the power comes after 3000 rpms.

Injen & K&N = same ****
same size tubing / same type of bends / same k&n cone filter at the end

so in reality, one isn't going to be more or less noticably faster than another. the only difference is the name, price, and color.

well i ran into a problem w/ injen recently. since i dyno my car stock w/ only the injen intake. my a/f was 15-16 on all range of rpm. yes if you run lean you get the power but if you run dangerously lean it can harm the motor. i rather stay save and run more rich than lean. ya i do lose a little bit of power but i rather have a little loss in hp then having to replace the motor.

K&N is a good company that has been around for quite a while, companies would be hard pressed to make a CAI that is really "better" than a K&N system. That being said the Injen intake has satisfied everyone that I have sold it too, and now the black ones are in too. I went with the K&N, the numbers are really too close, another DYNO might show slightly different results, so its a flip of the coin.

13.5 is not high for a naturally aspirated engine. you want to keep a forced induction air fuel ratio at around 12.7 and a naturally aspirated around 14.7. 13.5 is actually rich. if you tuned that with a camcon and added some fuel to get it up to 14.7, you'd actually gain more power too.

hey guys is the black powder intake different from the polished one? or are they both the same just that the only difference is with the color? so it basically boils down to preference? because i ordered it and they company (kuruma motoring) said they only have black powder ones left.

I'm assuming the only difference is the color.

At this time there is no legal CAI for the TC on California streets. Check Injen's web site they say it's only for offroad/track use.
