Injen or KN?
Well i'm pretty sure im going to purchase a CAi soon, but since their pretty much identical on the DYNO, which one is louder, or sounds better or are they nearly identical? And last confirmation neither is CARB legal and neither gives off CEL right? Thanks
K&N does not thow the CEL, and can also be installed as a short ram. I have the K&N installed on my tC and I love it. I agree it's basically the same gain as the Injen, Im not sure how the Injen sounds though but I would guess it would just sound like the K&N. Which sounds awesome by the way. Have both in stock now. K&N is a little less expensive, not any less of a product though.
my injen is suppose to arrive on tuesday and I cant wait......the place i ordered from said that injen makes the best intakes and always performs best on dynos as it did with the tC.....so I'll post something probably a sound clip as soon as i install it.....
Have you considered getting the Weapon R Secret Weapon intake? I am looking around for an intake also and am leaning towards that as it seems to get the most power and since it's a short ram has no chance to suck in water and hydrolock.
^^^in the end your still sucking in hot engine air, and i guess you can get the ram air and the shield or w.e but then it ends up costing close to 400 bux for a CAI that puts out a couple more hp and a couple of more tq that in the end you will never tell the difference
Im scared to death to put in a CAI although Id love too. Im leaning toward the K&N but am really worried about hydrolock. AEM made a water bypass valve that nicely solved the problem but all K&N offers is some cheesy looking thing they call the "DryCharger" basically a sock you slide over the filter. Anyone have any experience with this issue? Am I worrying about nothing? Does the drycharger work? Can you retrofit the AEM water bypass valve onto a K&N or Injen CAI?
Is it possible to get the AEM CAI anywhere? I cant find it.
Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated.

i have the drycharger thingy.. i live in miami and it rains every day no problems yet... i am also on the look out for puddles on the left side tho.... k&n sounds great and for the price all the hp numbers are bs i think its just a long tube with a filter thats all.. if u want colors go with kn if u want black or crome go with injen thats all..
Hydrolock isn't something that's going to happen. Much like lowering your car, it's an acceptable risk for most.
Bypasses simply don't work, or at least, not consistently. Often the water can be sucked right through the foam (that's all it is.). AEM makes great parts but frankly it's a gimmick, an "add-on" sale. A friend of mine has an integra GS, a CAI, and a bypass valve. He still hydrolocked his car. Now, he's also got his car slammed on the ground, which would directly affect how much water it would take to lock the engine. He rebuilt his engine over the following weekend, but he didn't reinstall the bypass.
