Injen short ram vs. Weappon R Intake --> My comparison.
First some background:
I installed the Injen sram intake on my car a little over a month ago and had the intake on for 2-3 weeks. My problem with this intake was that it just did not seem to fit right. There is not enough room under the hood and the air filter would rub against the upper fender wall and lip. It rubbed against the fender enough to actually cause a small hole. I emailed Injen and asked them about the tight fit and they never replied.
I decided to try the Weapon R Intake because it seems as though a lot of people are using it. When the intake finally arrived, i unwrapped it and began to install it until i noticed that the screws for the MAF sensor were not shipped. I called Weapon R and was able to get in touch with Chris right away. I emailed him my information and within the following week the screws arrived by mail. I have since installed the intake and to this point I have not had any problems.
Anyways here is my actual comparison:
Fit: The Injen Sram couplings seem to be a little looser while the Weapon R couplings were a much tighter fit. The weapon R intake also fit under the hood much better and there is no rubbing against anything. The only thing lacking on the Weapon R is a spot to put the piece that follows after the MAF sensor. The Injen intake does have this...
Performance: The Weapon R appears to be smoother and I do not notice any power loss when I am shifting through the gears. I felt as though with the injen intake there was a slight power loss in lower rpms. I could feel the overall gain in performance with both intakes when compared to the stock intake.
Sound: I feel like the Injen intake has the Weapon R beat here. Both have a whistle, but the injen has a deeper growl as you go higher into the rpms. My TRD exhaust also seemed to be just a little louder with the injen. Both intakes are however loud enough to cause people to take notice.
Customer Service: Weapon R was almost too easy to contact and get the help I needed. I could have been looking in the wrong place but I don't believe I could find a customer help number for Injen on their website. I did however find an email address. I emailed them and they never got back to me.

i installed one on our members tC, and i was VERY surprised at how tight it fit...we actually used a cAI and just utilized the short ram piece...for a few i thought that due to it not being the ACTUAL short ram intake that was the reason for the tight fit..needless to say it was not the reason, and im VERY surprised injen didnt cut like 1 inch off the length....that would have solved the , "to close to fender, hey im rubbing" issue. As far as quality, the Injen is by far better imo, but fit ment undoubtedly must go to any ohter intake other than the injen..lol...
all in all, i advise that if you install the injen short ram , put some sort of 2 sided tape and a piece of something that is softer than the fender lip, cause that is what it rubs on, and its horrible looking...
Even the CAI version of it , the secondary tube,a nd how it sits in the cut out in the metal ont he drivers fender, and the rubber insualtion they supply to go around the edge, i couldnt get to stay, and after a month of being in the car, the CAI is now a Short ram, and is on ANOTHER persons car...

yeah, keep checking your filter because if it continues to rub it will eventually have a hole. the two sided tape or putting something soft around the fender lip might help prevent it.
I heard that Injen used the intake from another car for the scion and this is why there is a tight fit. I'm not sure if it is true but they really could have made this better.

I have a different perspective. i used to have the WR secret weapon intake, went back to stock before i got my injen.
I personally think the fit, finish, and quality on the Injen CAI is way better. The injen does have the bracket to connect the pieces after the MAF and the WR does not. The injen piping on the inside is also alot cleaner then the WR. The inside of the pipes of the WR have little rivets to hold the secondary pipe inside, also there were little metal shavings in the WR that i had to blow out.
when i installed the WR i noticed loss in power downlow with gains up top. when i went back to stock airbox my tq was restored.
going from stock to the injen i dont notice the power loss down low, although im sure there is some and would show on a dyno. but i feel that the increase in power is alot better from the injen.
I also have to agree with Jarrod123 on the injen sounding better then the WR. its alot deeper sounding the the WR.
in my opinion the injen is better quality and more worth the money. the WR is easier to install though. but the injen is very easy to install too.

i had the cold air box with my WR, along with the ram air kit... it works pretty good... only thing i think is the box's fit isnt that great, it wobles and moves around a bit, its only held in by 1 bolt and its hard as hell to keep clean...
