Default Installation questions for those who has the Injen Exhaust

Hi, for those of you whom installed the injen exhaust.

Do you install it over the stock gasket or do you take it out?

Are you using new bolts & nuts or stock bolts (the one w/springs) with new nuts (since you can't use old nuts because its on the stock exhaust).

Mine is having a leak with just the injen filter/gasket on (without stock gasket in), so am just wondering if I'm suppose to have the stock gasket on too..

Thanks for help...

so you didn't have flat/plate gasket along with it? did you use the stock bolts and just got new nuts? and did you install it with the stock gasket?

With my trd exhaust you have to reuse the stock gasket I dont know why you would think to take it out. I am sure you also have to reuse the gasket with the injen as well. On my trd i reused the stock bolts and they threaded right into the exhaust. On the injen I would use the stock bolts and purchase some nuts and washers to go on the back side of the exhaust flange.

yeah I got new nuts to go along with the bolts, the reason of taking the stock gasket out was because the fitment doesn't seem right with it on, it just doesn't go in perfectly.. maybe I was doing something wrong? will redo it today though.. so hopefully everything goes as planned with the info i'm getting here..

And please post more, cause i just bought my injen from a guy used and it is getting shipped here, and i was also wondering what all i would need to purchase ahead of time to install it as soon as it gets here.

Can you give me the size specs of the nuts and washers?
and anything else i might need, cause i want to be prepared for it. ^_^

thanks and i hope everything works out and please post your results.

hmm yeah that doesnt sound too good.. um, this may sound silly but are the screws tightend enough? if so, then yeah it might be your gasket, another thing to check is make sure that the two flanges are aligned just right..

Unlimted77, im not sure on the bolt size but i believe its a 15mm?? and yeah your pulling the rubber hangers off but do it carefully.. cuz your gonna need them for the injen.. best way to do it, is spray it with some wd40, stick a flat head screwdriver in the hangar and start pulling it off with the screwdriver,, kinda hard to explain but it works real nice..

When I had the injen on I left the stock gasket on and it had a leek too. Then I went under and sprayed a whole bunch oh WD40 and screwed it on with an impact wrench super tight. It still had a small leek but it didn’t bother me much so I gave up. When I took off my injen, the stock gasket was smashed up and unusable so I had to replace it. I’m guessing you don’t use your stock gasket but use the one they supply you because if you look at the stock gasket and try to align it with the injens it’s not flush.

I think the way ijen wants it, its mid pipe flange then there Gasket then injen flange

flange-> ]|[ <-flange

I might be wrong?

Spray some WD40 and give it hell, you can't be afraid to break stuff.

Aight i got it installed and MAN...it sounds HELLA NICE~!!!

And the guy i bought it from is known as NVS TC i believe, and he is a great seller.

Plus he sent me two bolts two nuts and a gasket, and i read that there was alot of people with leaks, but i didnt even tighten that much but i cant feel no air leaks.
Is there another way to test for leaks or should i not worry about it?
Pics will come tommorrow i promise!>>
