Default Installed!!!

After 4 hours... I finally installed my TWM stage 2 SS and NST steel bushings... I'm too tired to test drive. Let you all know how it feels later...

Some tips for anyone who is going to install their own SS...

1. When you are taking the washer off the side of the shifter housing... you really need to dremmel it, or you can do like i did and get a hand saw and go to town on it... It was stress relieving as well.

2. When you need to pop off the housing to get the shifter out... use two screw drivers... and for 07 owners, break the little steel clips holding it down, use a pair of plyers and bend like hell.

3. when you need to put the piece that holds the shifter... stand on it. I'm serious... get on your set and use your heel to apply the appropriate amount of pressure. (I weigh 160lbs.)

So my hands have more scratches than a kid who sticks his hands in a tigers cage... It was nice getting my hands dirty again but man does my lower back hurt. GL to future DIY'ers.

yea, i did it when i got home and truthfully... i stared at that washer for about an hour cursing at it, then the cap that goes over the shifter wouldn't pop on, so i opened the sunroof and stood on it... and since i'm staying with a friend, i had to raid his dads tool box, and i finally found a hand saw... that's about the time the washer came off.

then i put the bushing in... which took all but 20 minutes.

And it's alot nicer, i like it alot, now all i need is my ingalls stiffy and CAI and i'll be good for a little while. Till I get proper funding...

1. false.

2. 05-06 also have steel clips. they just pop off.

3. piece that holds the shifter?

and it still took you 4 hours with your advice? i did mine in 45 minutes. 15 of it was trying to put that pin back in when putting the shifter back into the cage.

Thanks... it was hard work since I haven't worked on cars in a while... and since I didn't have a dremmel and my friends dad didnt have one in the garage I had to raid his tool box till i found the hand saw...

and thanks for the tip on the springs... i was going to install myself but maybe i'll just pay $100 to have it done.

What do you guys say about the sway bar replacement? Is that easy too or no? I've never done sway bars.

^^ what he said... only real thing you have to make sure you can do is lift the car high enough so that the rear sway bar can be easily replaced.

if so.. it'll just take about 30 minutes for the rear one.

So then I should get a floor jack and not use the one in the trunk huh? Is there tension on the sway bars? Is that why I need to lift the car to a certain point?

the scissor jack in the trunk is worthless, but it works none the less... for your own sake use jack stands if you're gonna get under there.
