Unfortunately IPT wouldn't be able to Build a Shift Controller for an 09', not sure about any other Year, but Ty did let me know that a Valve Body Upgrade and High Performance Torque Converter would be more than enough to handle up to 300whp, after that, a Fully Trans Rebuild is advised.

You should be able to surpass 240whp with the Valve Body, from what IPT let me know, you should expect Faster, Firmer Shifts. Let me know how it turns out.
I Envy You! Haha'.

From everything I've Read and Heard, you'd probably be Safe around 250-260whp until you get a New Torque Converter.
I know I must be bothering IPT a lot because I've been Asking a lot of Questions.
I'm not Boosted yet, but I'm Building my Parts List Slowly, and I just want to Play it Safe.

This entire topic has been discussed here already.

second. with the valve body upgrade, it is safe to hold up to 350 whp. It is def. possible to make it hold more than 500. but at that point, it's no longer daily driveable and I doubt people are actually going to build a 500 whp tC.

That shift box was made by IPT so not really a "home made". They are a very good transmission shop.

Level 10 also makes the shift box and all the upgrades that's available from IPT.

To be honest, if I have time, I'm going to be contacting Boost Logic. They're the ones that build a Supra auto tranny to hold over 1000 whp. So they know what they're doing.

first off, I'm assuming that if you are actually planning a 350+ build on an auto tranny, you have a BIG tranny oil cooler.

I was talking to the guys at Level 10. That's how I got my numbers.

They said that with the valve body, it would support up to 350. The shift will be extremely quick and so forth.

From what I understand it's the slow shifting from the auto transmission that causes the most wear and tear combined with the stress generated from the additional power. The valve body is an essential part of the automatic transmission. Upgrading it allows it to support more power.

But honestly. If you're planning a build for 300+ horse, you should probably just rebuild the transmission anyway just to be safe.

Well my Goal is 300whp. I Plan on Purchasing the IPT Re-Build Kit, Torque Converter Upgrade, and Valve Body Upgrade this Summer. I'm gonna' Buy their Second Biggest Cooler, should be good.
I'm in Chicago, and have a Great Mechanic in Skokie. He'd take the Car for a Week and even give me a Loaner Car.

Not to Doubt anyone, or cause any problems, but here's the Info straight from IPT.

"It is hard to say an actual horsepower number, many variables come into play such as how the power is being made.(turbo, nitrous, all motor) and how the vehicle is being used,(drag, road race, drift, street or a combination of all of them)
That being said,if the transmission was rebuilt using our rebuild kit, valve body upgrade and torque converter the transmission should have about 35-40% more holding power,if the transmission was sent here and we did the in-house build (cryo, additional clutches, reworked pump, etc, etc.) the transmission would be as bullet proof as possible, and have over 70% more holding power.
Hope this kind of answers your question,if you have any other questions about the build please feel free to give me a call here at the shop 1-866-82-TRANS (toll free)"

So, with that being said.. If our Trannies start to Slip around what, 240whp? Do the Math and it comes out to being a MAX of 312whp that we can hold. (240x1.3) which is good enough for someone like me who just wants to hit that Big 300.
Sure, being able to hold 400whp is much nicer, I don't really have, nor would want to, drop that kind of Cash for a FULL Re-Build.
I think I'll stick with the Valve Body, Torque Converter, and Re-Build Kit, and get close to that 300whp whenever I Turbo.

don't really remember the address. Just search

Top Speed Chicago in google. It'll bring up the address. But I'd take it to AMS over Top Speed since it's a dsm.
