Default Just installed the GearSwitcher short shifter

I just installed Doctor Isotope's Gearswitcher and I absolutely love it. I've been reading on here for a while now about how awesome it is to have a short shifter and how nice it feels...I haven't been let down at all. This was probably the most complex thing(only other thing really is an intake...) I've ever done to a car and it wasn't too bad at all.

Shifting is so much smoother, shorter, and precise. I can't believe I waited so long to get it! I did install the delrin cage bushings but have not yet installed the delrin cable bushings...hopefully that'll be done tomorrow.

I picked the 1.5" drop and the cage bushings raise it 0.6" so in the end I have a 0.9" drop. I wish I had accounted for the .6" raise and gotten the 2.0" or maybe even the 2.5" drop instead. Ah well, I'm quite happy and impressed with the results.

Now to my question, I somehow managed to lose the clip that's supposed to be around the vertical cable(the one on the right to be clear)...is that anything to worry about it? I tried damn hard to put it on but I kept dropping it and eventually it could no longer find it. i didn't see how the shifter would possibly pop out of the cable so I'm not worrying about it too much....but I'm asking just to be safe.

helps alot on the track.

The dark brown clip that goes on the white cup holding end of the shift cable.

One more thing...to install the cable bushings do I just remove the pin, remove the old bushing, place the new bushing, reinsert pin?

ya you do need that clip...
that helps hold that on to the shifter..
as for the cable bushings thats basically what i did but i put some grease on the rod cuz i read on one of the DIY that itll help with the longevity and smoothness of the shifts easy stuff tho

Okay I can get the clip from the dealership and it's only like $3.

Now, is it safe to drive without the clip? I took it for a spin yesterday and everything seemed fine

Its just one of those things, it may stay in place till you put the clip on and it may come out at the worst time...

as for putting it on...
take a good look at the clip and figure out how its supposed to go on. believe it or not this is tricky and the biggest cause of having trouble putting it on.
i spent 1.5 days trying to put it on with no success, looked at it flipped it over and it went in in a sec...its all about putting it on the right way, not upside down(which its pretty easy to mix up)

There's a hole near the shifter that goes into the body of the car...that's where the clip is...is there any way other than luck to find it? Perhaps some way to look into it that I'm not aware of?

Thanks for all the help guys

Extend-o-magnet. You can get one at Sears, Harbor Freight, etc.
