Just installed an Intake ?
So i just installed a Injen cold air intake. My question is, Is there any way to get rid of that annoying whistle sound? Sounds like a major vacume leak..
Or is there any way to modify the throddle body or something? Thanks
The whistle is normal, when my friend installed his AEM intake on his accord, the whistle was there all the time. Its just the sound of it sucking air i guess. I'm sure once you get used to it, it wont bother you much anymore.
the whistle is normal even w/ the stock.. you just dont notice it. scion designed it to make the stock intake sound like it has a cai. its somewhere here.. but too lozy to post links..
heyyyyy isn't that why you bought/installed your intake in the first place?! sound?! haha i'm just messing with you. yeah, whistling is much more pronounced on aftermarket intakes. why? you just said see-ya to your stock air piping, which included the resonators... and a little more air is passing through the tubing at the same time. but seriously, doesn't everyone love the sound of an intake?

Well under excelleration it sounds great, It's just the whistle while cruising speeds. Anyway's, That is not why i installed the intake. The injen intake on the dyno shootout a while back got 7 more horse and 8 or 9 more tourqe with everything else stock. Every little bit of horse power helps, thats why most of us mod our cars! I also believe that it's the throddle body design that is making the sound of a whistle. Thats how it was on the 2.3 ford focus motor, as soon as people started changing out the throddle body with a larger one the noises went away..
I have an injen intake i recently installed as sr, but I hear a whistle mostly at 2500 rpm and no where else, I actually hate the whistle but love the growl...in my opinion I feel like it took my low end torque away..anyway if you want to avoid the whistle do what I do and drive to avoid the rpm that you hear it at.

i still don't understand what whistle you guys are talking about. like i said all i get is a normal sound when i'm not on it, then when i give it a good amount of gas i get the deep throaty sucking sound that all intakes give.
It seems like from what I'm fimilar with is that the whistle only occurs from an 06 maybe also an 05? I recenty installed a CAI (Injen) in my 07, and no whistle sound at all. My buddy has a 06 and that thing whistles everytime he hits the gas, even goes off when he just taps the gas. Kinda reminds me of a turbo, but without the BOV. Anyways im pretty sure its normal and I dont think you can change it, I dont know what they changed on the 07's but theres no whistle. Atleast for my 07.
