Default just installed my AW header and guess what? NO RASP!!!

thats right people. NO RASP! took me and my bro about two and half hours to install. man those nuts and bolts are placed in some hard to reach areas. well after letting it idle for about 5 minutes i took it out for some runs. i heard absolutely no rasp from the inside. listened to it as my bro drove by and still no rasp. just a nice throaty somewhat deep tone. no CEL yet but hasnt been but less then 3 miles. i used the antifouler method. here are some pics enjoy!

oh btw...its normal for it to smell like somethings burning in the engine bay right?
and also, the oil dipstick on autos kinda get in the way of the header. think its safe right there touching the oil dipstick? i put some thermal wrap around it just in case but its not in the pics.

yes there is hope! haha i have the stock exhaust and s-pipe. i bought my header a loooong time ago..around august or september. the price back then was $325 i think? so im pretty sure i have the later model if there was a newer model made.

i forgot to mention in my post about the feel. i can really feel some difference, especially when it gets up around 5200 rpm. sorta lifts you through the rest of the gear.

You can just bend the dipstick tube out of the way to keep it form rubbing. The smell is normal BTW. FYI, my header wasnt raspy at first either but got raspy after a while. I just installed a 30" resonator to replace the stock one and its eliminated all the rasp.

I never got rasp at all with the stock muffler... Here's why....

It's the most restrictive piece of equipment on your car.... add a AM Muffler and tada! Rasp!

greddy sp2 is up next. psh, rasp doesnt draw me away from anything. to me, its nothing.

when my rsx was n/a, i had the DC race header on it, "rasp"'d like hell, but didnt bother me any.

BTW, i took off the side brackets that hold the OEM header up. i only bolted the spring bolts on. thats fine right?

that should be okay cause the dc header doesnt have any side bracket mounts on it either.

A larger resontaor will fix it. The s-pipe will do nothing for the rasp. I went with a 30" magnaflow resonator and have no more rasp

I like the little bit of rasp with the stock muffler. I mostly hear it when it shifts and it makes me feel good inside. I want some Draxas though...

Everybody is now getting on the resonator bandwagon and it looks like it's fixing the rasp issue pretty well.

where did you get your resonator and how much did you pay??....oh yea and what other effects do you get from the larger resonator....any change in performance? and does it just kill rasp or does it kill out almost all sound from the exhaust? cause beside the lil rasp i have my exhaust sounds sweeet....has a deep growl except for the rasp at 3-4k rpms

Mine was the same way with a nice sound except the rasp around 3500 RPM. I paid $105 for the resonator installed and noticed no difference in performance. The car literally sounds stock other than the intake. I had a friend drive my car up and down the street last night so I could hear it and it is very mellow sounding. In a few weeks I am going to try someones TRD exhaust to see if it raspy or not...Im betting it wont be.
