so i drive my 05 tc on the highway alot and was just wondering is it just me or do you other 5 speed owners wish you had another gear. i swear cruising at 80mph im steady at like 4k rpm!!!

Actually, it is right about 3670 rpm at 80 mph

This has been posted a million times, so it will probably get locked. Personally I love the gearing, without the short gears people would wine that the car didnt get up and go, and a tall 6th gear would be gutless. I like being able to mash the pedal in top gear and pass someone, and have no problem with it running 3600 rpm at highway speeds.

Yea I love it when I'm screwin around but it seems like it uses a lot of gas when just cruisen down the highway

Well wouldnt it be nice just to have a 6th gear? An extra gear to pop into wen yur cruising around 85 to even lower the rpm. Maybe i got a lemon, but the tC just doesnt feel that good cruising near 4k rpm for more then a couple minutes. I had to drive my friends S2000, home wen he got locked up and it was actually very nice to have a 6 gear on the highway, or maybe it was just nice cuz the S2000 is so damn sexy oh and yeah built very nice

 

I have driven my tC for 600 miles, non-stop other than 1 gas stop and maybe one bathroom break with the cruise set at 80 the whole time... the car loves 80 mph And I have made that trip a good number of times in it.

sure doesnt hurt to have a 6th, the noise can be tiresome........ I've come from lower powered cars so downshifting to pass ppl doesnt bother me 1 bit..... we got manuals for a reason right?
