loss of words really... all i really got is the fact that you can drive with that particular k&n intake legally, whereas any CAI is illegal.

an intake is an intake, its Really only just gona sound, but if you want one that supposedly adds .1 hp lol more than any other intake out htere, get the INJEN, prety much b/c it has bigger piping then the k&n, or fujita. i have the K&N and i just replaced teh air filter that it comes w/ with an AEM air filter...and i noticed a bit better performance all around. I suggest you just remove your airbox in general...see what happens.

CAI won't pass a visual smog check on the tC.

hopefully you have a 2007 tC because that is what i believe the intake was designed for.

judging by the picture, sort of reminds me of the old swiss cheese stock airbox trick. people just cut holes in the bottom part of their stock airbox, drop in a K&N filter, and supposedly you would have some decent sound but minimal to 0 gain. this looks like that with the bottom half of the airbox gone.

You need to have one to pass visual inspection, and the 2007 version of this intake does not have one... yet. I wouldn't worry too much about it, '07 won't get smogged until 2013 and since it keeps the upper air filter box, no one will notice it's aftermarket.

Read this --> https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=165444

a) Use a drop-in filter from K&N or TRD

b) Don't worry about it and install what you want, go back to stock for smog check in 2011 or 2012 (and don't get pulled over and hood popped by law enforcement before then)

c) Convert you current box to a Dr. Isotope GFI (you'll have to search for that)
