Default K&N Short Ram Intake Installed**

K&N short ram intake.

close up view of the throttle body.

stock intake and K&N filter box.

the intake midpipe is not off K&N CAI setup, in fact i bought this for $80 on eBay off procarparts. it came with the real K&N filter, not generic filter. the intake midpipe is actually shorter than weapon R as well, which will improve throttle response. the sound is great, i can hear it sucking air when i go heavy on the pedal. of course, throttle response definetly improved.

most importantly, this midpipe works with tC MAF... which is the most critical part.

the entire installation took 30 minutes, 5 minutes removing stock intake system, 25 minutes installing the new intake with hose clamps. fairly straight forward.

so if u people are thinking not spending over $150 on intake system, u mite wanna consider K&N short ram intake

btw...i always believe in K&N's high quality filter for years. generic filters such as foam filter result in poor quality air induction, but no K&N. that's why i choose went with real K&N filter...

there is someone that did a dyno on all of them but i dont know where it is. K&N (which i have) produces one of the lower hp gains. I am not sure what the others sound like but this darn k&N sounds NICE! If you have a stick you can get just the right air going through it to make it whistle

the whistle is true for most if not all intakes (the stock one does it too), and it'll whistle on autos to.

and this isn't a K&N intake, its a generic tube with a K&N high flow filter. so the results shouldn't be the same as the actual K&N intake.

lol... i'll but a K&N sticker on it...

j/k anywayZ in my opinion real K&N CAI, custom short ram, injen, TRD, weapon R... it doesn't really matter. it's not like anyone of them squeeze out that extra 1-2 WHP at the PEAK will make the tC faster or anything.

if people are really going for "performance car", tC probably shouldn't be on the top of the list to choose. i would lookin to 300zx, evo, sti, or B16/B18 swap in old school hatch... those cars have better potential than 160 powered camry engine.

btw i'm not saying tC is not a good, tC is an awesome car, and that's why i have it and modding it. i'm just stating in the reality that people spending on N/A problably won't make their car too fast. they should look into FI (force induction) to get more WHP.

hehehe.... well... the stock intake has that little hose thing that leads down into the fender... and it's not made out of metal so heat soak doesn't come into play... i would think the stock one would bring in cooler air..

...but i wouldn't really know how much warmer your current intake setup is going to suck up compared to stock, but the only thing that it obviously has over it, is air flow. and yeah.. it's louder.

uhh... going to stuft pizza tomorrow? i'll be there late, but i'll be there.

oh yea... i forgot about the little hose thingy.

well, i wouldn't trip over warmer air intake setup. in fact i had CAI on my maxima and then switched back to short ram. there was dyno on both setup proven short ram provides better mid and top range gain, CAI provides better low and mid range gain. again, that's for the VQ engine, it could be different for the 2AZ engine. i have short ram on my maxima for 2 years+ now and everything is working great. anywayZ, nothin should be said until i hit the dyno someday.

so there's another pizza meet? daymn i think i have to work tomorrow... i work full time now so it's really hard for me to set time aside and do other stuff like i used to. but in the future i'll start looking into regional forums for meets and stuff...

yea...i know ebay intake question is gonna come up soon or later, especially the MAF. cuz few months ago somebody said he did the 03+ corolla intake midpipe + generic filter and it worked, i bought it myself and it did NOT work. tC MAF is not compatible with corolla's.

anywayZ here's the link >> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=8035156767

its cool.

and yea, cheap dyno runs are pretty hard to just come across.

we had a generic vehicle dyno day around here, the runs were $25 for 2 pulls with A/F readings! dingdingding!

I just ordered that same intake, well see how it works out! I wonder how much of a sound difference it would make.

well...below 4k is mostly my exhaust, above 4k till redline, engine start to pull and sound a lot louder.

between 2k-3k, if u step on the gas pedal at certain point u can hear the intake go "pssh...psssh"...it's inducting air.

lastly, throttle response improved noticibly. i think u will notice the improvement of throttle response over power gain...
