Default looking for exhaust opinions

well for the past couple months ive tossed the idea of F/I into my little tc. ive also weighed the option of turbo.

in my head i still cant break this thorught process but with the price differnece and cost of instalation between the 2, and the over all life expectancy of the s/c will out do a t/c.

well if i go t/c (which im leaning heavily on s/c right now) obviously the exhause setup will be entirley different. HOWEVER, if life crumbles and s/c just isnt happening this summer due to budgets, im adding the exhause reguardless.

i figured if do the exhause (headers, cat back, basics) if i go s/c im good to go.
-----------
that aside, im lookin for a 4-2-1 header setup, and a cat back that will decrease on rasp. i herd a tc today that had a raspy exhaust and i hate it. i DO NOT want a rasp to my exhaust. i want a nice deep tone.
meagan headers are prolly what ill end up with but cat-back im clueless

ive read thousands of f/i and exhaust threads ans wanna see what ppl have now (youtube sound clip maybe?) since right now im leaning towards s/c with full exhaust (prolly aem piggyback tuning software if i put an intake on the s/c to avoid running to lean)

bottom line, no rasp, i dont care if i loose a little power for sound just not alot[/i]

well for one i believe the megan is a 4-1 header so if you are looking at a 4-2-1 then you're already heading in the wrong direction. I have a weapon r 4-2-1 header/spipe and it sounds great. Although I am running an axle back exhaust and not a catback..my header is actually gonna be for sale pretty soon..so if you are interested keep an eye on the ppc section of the forum.

as far as rasp - you are going to get rasp with a header/cat back combo no matter what you do. You're going to have to weld in a resonator to eliminate that. I've heard that the tanabe conept g (or medallion? can't remember..) sound great with a 4-2-1 header combo. the ARK exhaust doesn't sound to bad either from the youtube clips i've seen.

Hope this helps you out a bit!

save your money and dont get a header, if you do want to waste your money on a header dont forget to waste more money on a resonator for the midpipe to somewhat stifle the rasp, but not all of it. if you decide to save your money, put it towards a turbo charger, you'll enjoy it much more.

btw, i had an injen axleback and it was great, no rasp at all.

thanks for the input. I think im gonna start at the back. That way no matter what set-up i have in the end, it will work. I strongly believe im going s/c.

soim going to get a rasp unless i add in another resinator.... tell me something then... wont i get too much back pressure and loose any hp gains i may get? i know just a cat back or axle back isnt a huge increase, but if theres any increase at all, why sacrifice it?

thanks for the input!

Why not check out the complete P-tuning exhaust setup they have. Its made for F/I. If you want to piece your own together, I have the Tanabe concept G and I love the sound. Nice little rumble, and I have recieved tons of compliments.

you potentially will lose one or two horsepower with a resonator..but if you don't want rasp you have to compromise

You will be happy that you put a resonator on there. The rasp you will have will be horrible without it. Just go listen to some of the tCs with headers on youtube, most of them sound horrible.

If you got a header and you want it as quiet as stock I would go with a Magnaflow cat-back.

Then have this muffler welded in the center section of the exhaust.
