TRD said they are working with Quaife to make a LSD. It's is probably more like TRD is waiting for Quaife to make it then rebadge it as their own. But it may mean TRD will have a high quality LSD under warranty.

One way locks up only during acceleration.. Two way will lock up under braking as well..
There is also 1.5 (one and a half) way, which locks up during braking, but not as hard as during launch..
The 1.5 way can provide more forgiving balance when braking than a full 2 way setup, although it may be less effective real true racing,
I think 1.5 is good for FWDs, since their "front heavyness" usually needs extra stability during braking.

Phantom < Quaife
Phantom $$$ < Quaife $$$
Quaife will handle much more power and from what I've seen on performance boards, is a much better solution that phantom grip, by its design...
Individuals have used Phantoms and got great results... but I'd go Quaife....
Either will be a PITA to install on a tC.... and be a pretty penny.

Maybe if you buy a tC from a guy on the corner it will come stock with LSD (In the glove-box)....
It's got an open differential to the extreme...with stock tires... it's slips-ville.

the phantom grip locks the open diff's spider gears together. this is similar to old skool lsd's. the plates are spring loaded, so the amount of pressure exerted can vary depending on the torque load. its a very simple and primitive design. newer style lsd's like Quaife's detect torque bias and distributes it accordingly. with the phantom grip, youre still using the stock differential which may not be as strong as an aftermarket unit. I dont know how strong or weak the stock tC diff is.
you get what you pay for. from eclipse and honda guys who've used it, they say its good for lower horsepower setups (HP/torque not exceeding the 200's) and straight line acceleration (not so good for road racing). for the money, people dont seem to complain. you will have to dissassemble/reassemble your stock open diff to install the Phantom grip, so install is much more complicated. replacement diffs like Quaife swap out your stock diff. most fwd cars require you to remove the tranmission to get to the diff (so swap out your clutch and flywheel while youre at it).
Here is a pic of the phantom grip in a dodge neon stock open diff.
