Default Magnaflow Vs. Greddy Q?

Hey all...

Just swapped out my magnaflow exaust, (way too loud for my taste) for a Greddy SP2. Now my girlfriend says its in my head, but although the noise level is definately better, it feels slower. Now this may be a total noob question, but which brand is better as far as performance.

When I went for Greddy, its cause I heard great things about it, but like I said, the Magnaflow felt like it gave me a bit more power.

Anyone else have some input? thoughts?

since u have been riding with the louder muffler for a while now that u went to a quieter one its probably makin u think that . I would think all mufflers would yeild around the same gains .

isn't the greddy an axle back? If you only swapped out the axleback, then the powerloss would be directly related to the exhaust which could only be confirmed through dynos.

If you removed the entire Magnaflo catback and just placed the greddy axle back on, then the power loss is obvious......

Should've kept the magnaflow-made it harder to hear the biscuit.

Personally I have a hard time telling if mods make a car faster on low end. I know a pulley and CAI intake made a difference on mine cause its much more eager on top end(120-125). Chances are the magnaflow was making more power. Some people test their products thoroughly for gains and some are just tryin to make a buck. Its hard to say for sure without a comparison dyno if the greddy is as strong. I have more faith in magnaflow than greddy. However this is based on their other products and does'nt really prove anything.

I don't trust these numbers because GSC's baseline horsepower was way low. Tc's usually baseline about 140. 137 must have been a bad run. This would have the greddys making about 2hp. Besides "if" greddy was making 6hp seems like greddy would be advertising their own dynos.

Here's magnaflow:

And Draxas:

if you removed the magnaflow catback and put ur greddy axleback on then there prolly is a loss in power...

then the only way that you can tell if you lost power is from back to back dynos

hmm lets see.....splatter welds all over the place with EVERY muffler, crappy bends (PM axlebacks) the dyno's ive seen show almost NO gain, not to mention all the reports from other cars with magnaflow mufflers on them that after about a year, they rust out from the inside and create nasty rattles, oh yea, they get rusted on the outside too. thats why their garbage. sorry i dont want something i can buy at a crappy mom&pop muffler store on my car

Just checked the two I have sitting here (10436 and 14210). You're right about the splatters-they both have it. The actual welds look good tho. And they both have stainless cores even tho the 436 is aluminized. Are you sure about the bends? Can you give details?

I did notice the welds do look kinda rinky dink and there was some oxidation going on, but my main concern was the sound. Wayyyy to loud. The magna came with the car when I got it... wouldnt be able to tell you what model it is
