Default Megan Cat-Back Exhaust Question

I just got my exhaust in the mail. I have talked to three shops, and they all say they will have to cut my Megan exhaust to fit around the cat under the car. They said that it is illegal to remove the cat. Will this hurt my horsepower gain from the exhaust? Will this change the sound of the exhaust? They also said, that if I remove the cat it will void the warranty on the car. Is this true? Please Help!

wont void warranty. dont cut your cat out of where it is now. total waste of time and money. the point of you buying the megan is to run no cat. just install it the way it is. the only thing you have to worry about is emissions.. in like what 4 years? if you have it over there in IN. IMO just install it the way it is. dont cut the cat out. you can do it yourself there is a write up there for a DIY. dont listen to the shops they just want you not to pollute the air.

Do it yourself, no shop will remove cats, unless you have a hookup.

It will take you 30min of your own time in the driveway to put it on.

I need to get a car jack. I finally got the silencer out of the end of the exhaust. Talk about a pain.

ya the silencer is hard to take out!!!

but if you do cut the pipe, and place the megan after the cat, you will not get the same sound, as the cat muffles alot of sound, and when it is not there the exhaust will be louder..so you can expect for your car to be quieter.

and you wont void your warranty.. nothing voids it, it is illegal, but as long as your running stock headers no one will notice. and if you do get headers, then get a hi-flo obd2 cat.

and keepin the stock cat will reduce the gains you will get by ALOT

Can I get a high flow cat that will not reduce the HP for this system?

i wouldn't get a hi flow cat welded on unless you add a header then you might want to consider it.
