Default Megans Mid-pipe Full review

Hello fellow tC owners. I have been a tC owner since 06 and only now im starting to do mods here and there. My recent quest to squeeze some power out of my car lead me to upgrade the exhaust. I went with the Megans Mid-pipes for the center section of the exhaust becuase it was the one that stood out to me the most.

When i recieved the the box, I was pleased to see that the box was not banged up and the pipes inside where well wrapped. Inside the box was a sheet of paper with warrenty and general Megan Racing policies. The two sections of where bubble wrapped at the end and covered in a fairly thick plastic. Once i unwrapped everything I inspected the welds and the workmanship of the pipes. There were some areas of the welds that didnt look all that clean (refer to pictures) not really a big deal. I was mostly looking for major errors, which i really didnt find none. The hardware (nuts bolts, gaskets) where attached and look of good quality. The finish on the pipes was fairly flawless, there where some blemishes here and there but agian nothing major.

The install was a breeze! As simple as four bolts out with the old in with the new. It fit in to perfection. As you will see bellow the difference between the stock and the Megans. I will give a performance review once i get the axle back in on Friday as well as review the axle back. I am currently waiting on the header to come in as well so expect the review on that as well.

Over all, I am very pleased with the pipes, the quality, the fitment, and the price for quality is one for one. A must have if your looking at upgrading the exhaust.

i loved my megan mid-pipe and exhaust when i had them, but after a year of using them, i removed them to sell, the flanges and all the bolts/nuts were rusted, and thats down here in florida, cant imagine anywhere up north.

but for the price, cant beat them!

Yes, its bolted on to the OEM axle back. It didn't make any difference in the tone. I will be getting my axle back on friday (Greddy SE). I did used the old dounut gasket, to save the new one for the new axle back.

A friend of mine has the same exhaust on his tc. It sound nice. He doesn't have a mid-pipe though. Its a little to loud for me tho. Im expecting it to be a little louder when header and s-pipe come in next week (dang these companies are slow to deliver!!)

It doesnt sound as tight as the hisssing from the back end of the mid-pipe for using the old gasket. Its okay tho my axle back comes in tomorrow and i got a new gasket for it. LOL is sounds like the car is running on steam.

I have this midpipe with the TRD axleback, very happy with it. You can hear it but it's not too loud, and it's fairly deep too.

Looks like a good upgrade. I'm curious what kind of power gains you get.

this goes up to the first cat right? deleting the secondary cat? Im asking because from what i have heard using this will not throw off my CEL... Any insight from those of you who are using it?

That's right, it deletes the secondary cat but will not cause your CEL to come on. Both O2 sensors come before the secondary cat so they aren't affected.
