Midpipe question
I am looking into a different exhaust for my fairly stock Scion but have a question about the midpipe. I see some exhausts are axle back and some are S-pipe back. To me, it looks like the S-pipe back would be more beneficial but these would remove the secondary cat. Is this true? Has anyone had any problem with emissions, obnoxious fumes, etc? I would prefer the S-pipe back exhaust but do not want to waste $$$ if there is not a lot of hp difference and I would be leaving a fume trail!
if you have only and axle back....only benefit sound........then if you add and midpipe depending on who you go with car will get louder due to no sec cat or stock resantor probably gain a few horses nothing much youll gain more sound....i have the megans drift spec full exhasut its pretty loud but love it....as far as emissions is concern i think that if you runniing without any cats on your car cause you stil have one on the manifold..now if you get a header then car wil be super loud and no cats illegal but hey people do it
Mostly, i just want to know if it is worth extra $100-200 for the mid-pipe or complete axle back over just the axle back. If it is not worth, then forget it. I do not mind the noise really, I like the exhaust loud. I might just save my money, get the axle back and a lightweight crank pulley at the same time, then get the Unichip and have someone tune it to what I have. If they recommend the midpipe for better tuning, then i might get it.
