Default More Power! Looking for pro advise

I have an '09 tC manual transmission with the Injen cold air intake 3" pipe. I'm looking for some advice on what else to do to my car with 1 main concern, more power. Of course I want it to sound good too, that deep bassy rumble. Any recommendations for exaust system setup or anything else to increase power short of a turbo (too expensive) would be appreciated.

That would also make my tC have the MOST expensive exhaust combo for a tC(Weapon R header: $450 + Agency Power Catback: $600=$1100). There is the Mazzuri Super header which lists at like $600 and you'd have to get an S-pipe(say about $150), now that is $$$.

buy a good header and make the rest your own.

Run 2.5 inch tubing for that low rumble. Aluminzed steel will be the cheapest and thats what oem uses so dont worry it wont rust in a week.

Why does everyone by brand name tubing? the gains will all be in the same general region no matter what brand you buy. Just get the specs of your favorite sounding exhaust, get a guy who can bend and weld and your done. Buy a nice high flow cat and get a resonator delete if you don't mind raspy exhaust. otherwise replace the resonator with another high flow cat and it will sound very very very low and still offer good velocity.

maybe in the south its easier. A case of bud red and like 60 bucks at most and the guy will bend and weld till it works.

I would think that a small shot of Nitrous would be the cheepest way to go - only use it when you need it and not in 1st gear so nothing breaks!

so its sounds like the general concensus is to just bite it and boost it. where can i get some additional information about where/what to buy. Also I prefer doing all the work myself, im not too technically advanced in automotive work, but I always take a shot and get it done right. Should I get it put on professionally or could i do it with a read through and a day?

If you have or know anyone with the space and tools do it yourself. Could be a great learning experience.
But yeah like everyone said if power is what your looking for a turbo kit is the best way to achieve bigger numbers.

So my knowledge on the subject is limited to put it nicely. Supercharger or turbo? what the difference? Which turbo should i get and where? And Im assuming the CAI has to come out for the intercooler? Any in-depth links or posts would be awesome

Well even though I don't own a TC i know that money wise a turbo is your best bet.

Superchargers are reliable, but you wont get much power compared to a turbo. The stock block can easily handle 280hp/tq and is know for up to 300whp without blowing up.

Now if you like the fact that a supercharger can be under warranty since you can get it for $4000 bucks at the dealer LOL

But its up to you!

TRD supercharger is still available - actually work at a scion dealership and asked the parts department for a price and $4,000. Just turned around and walked away. Anyone have any good websites for ordering the turbo?

Lol I cant beleive I guessed the price. I should go on the show the pric is right haha.

Here are good websites...

http://www.turbo-kits.com/tC_turbo_kits.html

and for a cheaper non plug and play, dyno tune required (also with the kits above) kit...

http://www.fueledsports.com/grtukit1sctc.html

Estimated 100whp increase for 3k. Not bad at all.

Now the good kits (first link) should give you alot more power to play with, and they wont be stressed as much.

Ohh,

Btw...the best bang for your buck, with ALOT of room to play (480whp with built motor down the road) is the Turbo Toyota's kit.

Now if you can find it cheaper go for it, but this kit is designed to spool on a dime.

Good luck

before doubling you hp with a turbo, maybe think about some small mods to make sure that power actually gets to the wheels? For less than $60 bucks for the kit you can get the energy suspension polyeurethane motor mount insert kit.
I did the install myself, I reccomend paying to have the mounts pressed in, it wasn't easy. but afterward the respone was great, no more engine torquing the mounts and jerking, the power goes straight to the wheels, next to none on the wheel hop as well, and it doesn't sound like crap like the torque dampner.

once they are gone they are gone for good. the reason they discontinued it is because they have had way too many problems with it.
