Default Motor Oil

What kind of motor oil does everyone use? Synthetic or Non-Synthetic?

What motor oil do you all use (brand and synthetic/non)? Mobil1 seems popular - put in your 2 cents!

well i guess i'll start the debate. I only put synthetic oil in my cars. I really can honestly say i feel a difference in how smooth the engine runs. My dad who's an engineer for 30 years has told me to onlly put synthetic oil for various reasons. I've been putting mobil 1 synthetic cause i was able to get them to put it in during my 3 free oil changes. Now my fourth oil change is coming up and i plan on doing it myself and using Royal Purple 5W-30. If your just gonna drive the car to work and back, regular oil is fine, but if you plan on keeping and really mainting your investment i suggest synthetic all the way.

I always use Mobil 1 SuperSyn 5W-30. Engine runs smoother but I notice that the engine gets louder.

yes... more expensive.

i have redline 5w30 in the car at the moment. engine runs considerably smoother... and quieter too. like i said in another thread:
it feels as if the engine wants me to push it even more.

I actually just posted the following in another thread - but i'll put it here too in order to get everything on 1 thread:

Anyone know of a good place to buy the synthetic motor oil (mobil1) and also for the special synethic mobil1 filter (M1-103)?

I use whatever the dealership puts in there, I'm not going to argue with free oil changes. Is that bad?

I have always used Castrol oil. 1997-2001 (Back in Vietnam) I used Castrol oil for my motorcycle. 2001- Present, I use Castrol SYNTEC.

What's so special about royal purple or redline compared to mobil1, castrol or any of the other popular synthetics out there?

also i found this TSB one day after i remeber hearing about this somewhere. http://www.alldata.com/tsb/Scion/114...0000_EG018-06/ According to this it says that the 2AZ-FE should be using 0W-20. Except in the table on the second page all the other models using the 2AZ-FE Engine are listed except the tC so does this mean that i should disregard the TSB or should i disregard what the oil cap says and go with what the TSB says.

Somebody please tell me what is the right viscosity to use! Thanx!!!!
