Mobil1 Extended Performance 5W-20 for me.
Other good options include Royal Purple and Amsoil.

There aren't a lot of filters that stay happy past 7500 miles, so that's about where my changes happen (Mobil 1 5w-30). 10 pack of Toyota filters from TRDsparks and 5 quarts of M1 for $22 and I'm at around $20 per change for 7500 miles
^^yes a tsb was put out, but I don't believe the wording was quite that it COULD use 5W-20, but instead that it was recommended, yet 5W-30 COULD be used. If you bring an 06 to the dealer for an oil change, they will put in 5W-20, if that means anything to you. This debate has happened too many times and always ends the same way, as follows: If you are not sure with the 06, use 5W-20. However, since 5W-20 performs better in colder weather, use 5W-20 for sure if you live in AK, ME, MI - the cold states (north), and unless you live in socal or FL, definitely during the winter and fall (and possibly even the spring). Use 5W-30 if you live in the south or even in the north during the summer months. I personally am not going to deal with all of that though, and so just run 5W-20, but you are safe with both. For that matter, you are also safe running 10W-30 during warm seasons, but it isn't recommended of course. There isn't a big difference at all between 5W-20 and 5W-30, but since toyota/scion says to use 5W-20 in an 06, it doesn't cost me anything...
The extended performance on mobil1 isn't necessarily for older cars. It just stretches out the interval between oil changes - the extended performance is guaranteed 15K miles. The regular mobil1 can't go quite as far (at least so they claim) :-)

Damn i change oil every 3000 miles maybe i should stretch it 2000 more miles to get more out of my money i guess now adays they are sayin its best to change 5000 miles instead of 3000 miles
