Default n00b Needs some help

Okay so I bought a 2005 TC with a blown motor... Previous owner added rims, had the tail lights tinted, HID Kit, full exhaust and I seen it on ceaigslist for 1500, I called brought 1200 cash and I had a new car... The cars currently flat black which does not bother me because I do body work all the time...

My problem is, Motor has a rod through the block and its an automatic. Tax time is right around the corner. I have some money saved up, I've been doing research on the cars and I used the search button on here but couldn't get a definite answer.

A couple days ago I found a auto to manual swap thread that listed everything ill need.. now I can't seem to find it again, any helps appreciated.

I found a motor for 1000 bucks, comes with a brand new k and N intake, Some sort of header. Only problem is, motors been sitting on a stand for 5 years and its a 07 with 76,000 miles. What would I need to do to freshen up a motor that's been sitting for 5 years? He claims to have hand cranked it over the whole time.

Also, is there any motor swaps that can be done and ill benefit from a little more power out of them?

Sorry for the questions when I search the terms it always brings up build threads... Any helps appreciated!

I would not suggest the 07 motor with the 05 ECU as the motor is slightly different (compression and oil squirters).

When I go to a manual, could I swap to a 07 ecu?

transmission really has very little to do with the ECU.... I still would not recommend unless you plan on getting your hands on an 07-10 ECU.

Sorry to be more clear... Since the car now is an auto. I will be swapping to a manual at same time I swap engines. Do I need to swap ecus for a auto to manual? Can I just buy a 07 ecu and kill two birds with one stone? (For trans swap and 07 to make the engine run correct)

You need the correct year ECU/wire harness. The ECU and wire harness both need to be for the manual. Basically everything needs to be same year and for the manual transmission.

Ex. Your ECU for the 05 Auto WILL NOT work for an 07 Manual. You would need an 07 Manual ECU.
