Ok I searched, searched, searched, searched and searched like crazy and got no answers. So..........................................

I have a friend selling a VAFC for dirt cheap.
I know this is primaraly a honda thing but I want to know if anyone has or knows if you can use a VAFC instead of the covential SAFC since these cars are vvti.


I know there was another thread on it but no answers and it got a little side tracked.

 

umm i don't think it will work with ours... honda's vvt kicks in at a set RPM ALL the time... If i understand our valve timing correctly ours does not and it varies and our smart little ecu changes accordingly... ummm engifineer is probably a good guy to talk to about this he can explain it better than i could.. in short i wouldn't suggest it... not sure it would take full advantage of our car

 

I'm not real intrested in the valve timing part of it. more of fuel curve and such. just want to know if I can use it for that.

Alot the honda guys I hang out with just tell me to get the new neoafc. its awsome but pricey and money I don't have right now.

 

thats the thing... since our vvt i is always changing it might be hard to get the fuel map 100%... just a thought... definitely talk to engifineer he'd be able to set you straight...

I just don't think it would effect it cause the safc doesn't change valve timing.

I don't want this a perminant setup. its only untill I have enough money to get my SC. Then I will go full tune.

Ok. I have spent my day off in front of this computer and talking to some local performance shops and big time honda tuners.

No the VAFC will not work with the tc for several reasons.

one: is vtec that is controled complety different from our vvti.

second: is because this was made for honda's vtec is setup to run only honda
systems.

Third: our cars intake, fuel, ignition ect. maps are completely different. injectors are high emedance (honda is low emedance) and will not regester correctly.

some of this information may be incorrect and I am not an expert. please correct me if I am wrong, this is just what I found researching and talking to guys with "expert experiance".
