Need help with megan short shifter install.
So, i just got my shortshifter and am looking to install it. I have some questions for you guys. Is a dremel neccesary to install a short shifter? I dont have one and i honestly dont even really know what they are or how to use one.
The other question i have is what are the purple metal bushing things for?
As you can tell i have never installed a short shifter in a car so any advice you guys have would really help me out.
Ive looked at the instruction in the tech section and they are pretty thorough and detailed so i think ill be okay i just am curious about those 2 things.
Thanks.

dremel is not necessary, however without one you will be cursing left and right and perhaps bust a nuckle, lol
you can use needle nosed pliers/flathead combo to pry the flat washers off
the purple bushings will go under the plastic shifter cage, you will see them when you remove the shifter housing
hope that helps!

dremel is not required. i used metal shears to cut off the the retaining clip. the purple bushings goes on the base of the shifter cage. u will see how they mount up when you get the center console out. use a ratchet socket that will fit over the new clip and pound it in with a hammer. pretty easy install.
Thanks guys. So, im confused here. Am i supposed to cut off the little metal washer or will it slide off of the end of that bolt? Im stuck at this part right now. Ive managed to get behind it with flat head screwdrivers and try and pry it free but it just wont budge. Probably not the smartest idea doing this on a friday night but im bored and theres nothing else going on.
Also the purple bushings go under the cage on those 4 corners?

^yes, the bushings go on the 4 corners and replace the rubber bushings
the washer wont just pry off (its purposely on there so that it cant just be lifted off) which is why i hinted at busted knuckles, lol

Yes you cut remove that washer. Cause the megan ss comes with one to replace it. And the purple bushings go under the cage. Scroll down and there are a few pics where they go...

Thank you guys. you are saving my life lol. I got the washer to break free thank god lol. Yes i did bust my knuckels a few times lol. Now im having issues with getting the plastic peice that holds the shifter down off. It keeps chipping when i try to pry it up with a screwdriver.
Finished. it feels way better than before. There is still some movemnet in the **** back and forth when its in gear. Id like it to be tight in there and not move. Is this what the cable bushings fix?
there will allways be a little play, the cable bushings will make the gear go in more firmly, rather then feeling like a rubber band when you push it into gear, it will feel more like a click like the gear snaps right in
the factory rubber bushings are there to numb everything down, so when you start replacing rubber with solid bushings, you will get more vibration and noise, but with more precise feel and function, hope that helps!

As chicotunner07 mentioned, replacing the stock rubber bushings with upgraded metal bushings will help to remove a good part of the play and flex in the shifter. Replacing the base bushings will help the shifter to feel a lot more solid in place and replacing the cable bushings (at the transmission end of the shifter cables) will provide a much more precise shifter.
