Default Need Mandrel Bent Custom Exaust!!!

I've searched everywhere. I'm intrested in the HKS Carbon Ti exhaust but it's not available to the tc. So I'm purchasing the Universal muffler like so...

Now, all I need it a nice stainless steel MENDREL BENT custom axle-back exhaust. Anyone know where I can get this done locally? I don't mind driving 2-3 hours if I have to.

OKay! I guess that answered my question.

Since I probably wont be able to find someone to do this for me. I'm thinking about purchasing the megan cat back and just having someone weld on the universal HKS muffler. Anyone have any reasons why this isn't a good idea?

i know of no muffler shops out there that have the capability of doing mandrel bent.. it is an expensive process and is not worth most of the muffler shop's time nor money to buy the machine... esp. considering you asking for a custom job.

my choice is if you are deciding on using a universal muffler and want a mandrel bent pipe... buy one that's already bent, and cut/weld on the new one... this process would still be very much expensive though. and i don't see much point in doing so.

your idea of the megan cat-back with the universal hks should work... pricy... but i don't see why. you're asking for something insanely pricy to save at the most like about 0.5 a HP..

Try Precision Mufflers. They've a tC at their place so just tell them what you're looking for and they'll mandrel bend it and ship it to you.

PrecisionMuffler does not do mandrel bent... like i've said... no muffler shops i know have the machine to do so. if anyone knows of any.. please tell me. for this situation.. i want to be proven wrong.

but also as i've said... mandrel bent is not completely necessary... for custom work, any muffler shop will be able to help you. as far as Precisionmuffler, Gabe does good work.

This its 2.5 mandrel bent piping, you get your choices... but you pay a good price for it all . the price starts at 414 big ones.

move to IL we have some here but they would need a car to mock it up on

or you could just do what i like to call peice parting (not sure the real name for it) but get U bends and cut them to the angles you need and weld them together to make your exhaust

if you need cheap bends jc whitney sells them (also based out of IL )

now you just need flanges (your local exhuast shop)

hangers (home depot and get some metal rod and bend it then weld it to your exhaust)

and most expensive a welder if you dont have one good luck finding some one to do this cheap

yeah... i don't know of any really (in a regular exhaust shop).. i know they're around though... and then of course there's the companies and what not that make their own.

that would be of course aside from the custom work the original poster wanted.

i'm gonna have to dig into this subject a little bit more. it's always useful to know where the shops with a mandrel bender are. just in case questions like this pop up ever again.

*EDIT*.. omg.. hey look... google is your friend.. and i'm an idiot

hmm.. still doesn't help the guy in SC though...

Thanks for all the help guys. I've shopped around some of the suggestions and was quoted anywhere from 300 to 600 dollars for a custom mandrel bent cat back. I've decided to just order the megan cat back for 300 since it's already at the angle I want and it'll be a bit less hassle.

www.upscaleautomotive.com

They'll be having a group buy on the megan cat back starting march 1st. I'm on the lookout for that.

If anyone else has any suggestions why this isn't a good route let me know. Thanks for the help guys!

Squall, are you sure PM doesn't do mandrel? I looked at their custom exhaust pics briefly before and they seemed like mandrel bends to me. I didn't look closely though.

I'll look again later.

Someone told me they had a custom system done in Albany,GA. <I think. Although they said they were'nt all that impressed with the work. You might also try to PM KillertC_com of Charleston they're in the perf business and should know. I went thru the same thing and when I finally found a shop they said $700-$1000. A prefab kit seems like the best option if you can find one ya like. I've got a $170 pile of magnaflow that i'll probably never use.
