Default Need Serious help Please look

Recently my car has been sounding as if it had an exhaust on it. A very deep sound. I got really worried because I don't have an aftermarket exhause. I popped open the hood tonight, while it was raining, to find that the oil cap on the motor flew off and there was oil all over the engine bay. In the car it smelled like there was burning gas. Can someone tell me why there might be that sound, that deep kind of sound when i rev up below 3000 rpms. My car is lowered with tein s techs, but beyond that there is nothing. And i havent hit any potholes before hearing the sound so i'm guess i didn't bend the header.

i have no explanation as to why the oil cap would/could pop off. all i could suggest is have it TOWED to the dealer and pray for htem to fix it under warranty.

and as far at the sound is concerned, you probably have an exhaust leak. since you are lowered, maybe you knicked your s-pipe or something?

thanks a lot skgiant80, i just cleaned off my engine bay, checked the oil, and started it up. It sounded perfectly fine and i dont think iLL need to take it in. The oil leveles were fine too so not that much oil came out. Thanks for all the help guys, iLL keep you posted if anything goes wrong. And i am most def doing my own oil changes. when you pay 15 bucks for an oil hange, u get what u pay for...

I still would have let the oil shop see it before it was clean if possible. And NOTE it on a copy of your ticket. It doesnt sound like you lost much oil, but just in case, I would make sure they acknowledged they did it. This is why I only like my hands under my hood (Ok.. I know.. that statement could lead to a lot of in-appropriate comments.. so I will be ready )

thats why its best you do your own oil changes.. i had a friend that took her camaro to jiffylube.. and they forget to put oil in the motor.. and her motor blew up.. of course.. jiffy lube did pay for the damage.. but after all that.. once something that serious goes wrong.. your car is never the same..

Yep, them not putting the oil cap on is retarded. You should do you own oil changes, it's easy.

As for the sound of the exhaust, I secoond the leak theory.

Oh and engifineer, I'll hold my comments. :D
