Default Need suggestions on an Intake...

Hello all

I would like to get an intake for my Scion, but there are so many out there it makes my head spin... My price range is 200 to 250. I need one that won't void warranties or make my cel go off. Something of quality but at an afforable price, ya know...

Ive been looking at the Weapon R Special Weapon.. Looks awesome and sounds awesome. Any experiences with this bad boy?

Also, would you recommend SRI or CAI? I live in Cali and Ive heard that a CAI is not a good idea for Cali. I am not sure why tho.

THanks!

It's all about opinion. I think the Injen Looks best.... You can also get it in black or chrome... and CAI is the best looking IMHO.

But, it's all about what you like.... Performance gains are not going to be dramatically different between any of them

200 shipped, not bad, though I did make my own intake for around 40 bucks.

i have the weapon-r sri and i like it..looks good and does not throw cel if installed right
you might want to get a cold air due to the heat in california, short ram if you live in a rainy area like me. the only thing i dont like is the low end tourqe loss with the weapon-r. you should make your choice based on seasonal weather and dyno sheets..if you look at the weapon-r corrected dyno numbers for the secret weapon sr you will see over 10 lp/ft of tourqe lost untill about 4000rpm..
hope this helps

Just buy a $5.00 flex hose and run it from a whole in your airbox to the front left brake duct (be sure to take out the insert.) Might even net better performance and costs less.

I have Injen and it sounds great. It was the first part that I bought for my car and it sounds great even if its the only performance mod that you have.

Yes, it appears a lot of people have a heck of a time installing them... ripping out bumpers and crap... I dunno if I can go through with all that mess! Maybe I should stick with a SRI, since you never know when the hell its gonna rain in SoCal these days.

Yeah. It took me and a friend about 2 hours to do mine. THe only bad part was taking apart the bumper. Uninstalling the stock airbox was pretty easy and putting on the CAI was pretty easy too except the part where you try to fit the lower piping into the tiny hole to connect with the upper part. It's worth the trouble in my opinion.

Well this being my first car part install I just followed the instructions that it came with. I guess it just gives you more room to work with. You only have to take it off for the cold air intake install though.

Also, I live in California and with the rain that we had last a couple days ago in SoCal i was afraid of hydrolocking but the car was fine. I plan on getting something like a drycharger from K&N or the AEM bypass valve as soon as I find one that fits even though teh chances of hydrolocking are very low. So you won't have a problem with having it installed as the cold air intake.
