Default NEW Cold Air Intake Comp? What CARB Legal?!! Check it out

Ok, so i do some daily eBaying to see whats new and I came across this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=150096564788

Its an XLR8 Perfermance Cold Air Intake
Stating its CARB legal, etc. Well I cant seem to find anything about this "Brand" of CAI on the ewb except for its MySpace.com Profile
www.myspace.com\xlr8performance

Tell me what you think, I want to know if it is CARB legal.

no CAI's for our car are CARB legal as are no SRI's. To remain CARB legal, you must also have a carbon filter which none of these have

No air intake made by a company called "XLR8 Performance" is CARB legal for any car.

"05-07" means it's worthless. They changed the MAF sensor size in 2007, no 05 06 intakes will work with the 07. Get the Injen, and move away from California.

The original poster is from Maine, and there's nothing wrong with California. After all, just about every CAI/SRI on the market comes from here.

yeah i talked to the EPA and they say if its not CARB or EPA aprroved its illegal. in the federal way, so i guess a K&N filter is the best i can do right now. im saving for some legal mods first. Performance I'll wait untill something is legal. why is the xA and xB 2004 legal? it burns me up lol

The EPA doesn't give approval for individual aftermarket car parts, that decision is mostly left to the states. CARB stands for California Air Resources Board, and unless your state has adopted CARB regulations, you should be free to install whatever intake you choose. I just read through the Maine Vehicle Code on inspections, and other than having a catalytic converter (it doesn't specifically say "original" catalytic converters) you're free to mod what you like as long as the Check Engine Light isn't on.

Okay, so I am a little late on this topic, but what if the check engine light is on? I just had to custom build an intake for my 07 and now the CE light is on... I am assuming this is because of the new intke.... Should I be concerned?
