well its hard to say how much additional stress its putting on the part...if the belt is smaller than stock...I wouldnt recommend leaving it on there. The reason it "squeaks" at start up but not afterwards is because of the rubber's natural property of expanding slightly when its warm...and contracts when cold.

okay i didnt know its just the power steering pump is a dealer part and in my state they want 500 for only half of the part. the belt is a little slimmer meaning its a 5 rib instead of 7 but the tension pulley has pressure against it. and everything spins fine the only thing i had to do was cut the lower radiator hose to make it small enough not to hit my belt

What is the original reason for taking it apart?

I would say that would be a question for your dealer...I've never had to replace those on either of my tC's so I dont honestly know if you can get that separate or not.

only if the tension is the same as stock...but again...I don't think it's very wise to run belt on a car it wasnt meant for. Generally bad things can happen using the wrong parts.
