i'm working with..
4-2-1 alphawerk header
OEM S-Pipe
Custom Skunk2 Cat-back Exhaust
(added Magnaflow 24 inch resonator.)
beside the minor leaks here and there..
my car sounds like a beat up old honda.
the resonator did its job and got rid of the rasp.
and dulled the sound a bit.
but it's just way to loud for my taste.
anyone have any thoughts or input into getting my exhaust a bit quieter?

how long u had the resonator?
change it every year because they break in and wont eliminate the rasp how they used too...
my exhaust is became RASPY as hell too..
if you dont want to get rid of the header: get a high flow cat and change the resonator every year.
plus i had an exhaust leak at the resonator! i just got it fixes yesterday!

well the resonator is pretty new..
and yes i know skunk2 is the loudest fart can alive.
but lol, better than getting megan in my book.
and sorry about the 4-2-1 mistake.
oh, im not getting rid of my headers..
lol i feel the power with that baby on.
maybe a new axleback or just the muffler will do..

^^^ have you seen the piping size of our stock header?
talk about restricted air-flow.
i am running the oem s-pipe i have no down-pipe.. << because im not boosted.
and the header does connect with the s-pipe =/

So you have a skunk2 muffler not the skunk2 catback for the tC? Cause the catback is not that bad. I have heard good things. It was either that or the megan drift spec for me but i love the sound of the megan a lil more. Id say if its the muffler only from skunk2 just get a new axleback. If its the catback id keep it and do a new resonator. But GL with the sound isssue whatever you do.
i woulda gone with the megan drift spec anyday over skunk2 thats jus me i guess, and when u say u "feel the power" wit a header in reality ur not. its jus a bolt on and ur lucky to even gain 5-10 hp with ur whole setup, but to answer ur question bout quieting out the exhaust u might have to get another axleback skunk2 from what i heard is really loud, or u can always take off ur header ur not getting muhc of a gain with it anyway jus a waste of money

if your header's a true 4-2-1, you would not be running a stock s-pipe.
get a cat on there. a silencer will only make you sound worse, i know because i have a skunk2 and put in the silencer in.... o man.. that was hell. took it out, got a cat welded in, and it was already 100x better.

The loud sound you're hearing is most likely due to the downpipe. It will create that lovely sound of riceness. Best suggestion I could make is replace the header with a header piece that bolts onto the stock s-pipe or go back to the original intake manifold. A header isn't really going to do anything performance wise on a n/a engine anyways. Although it does look pretty sweet on your car when you open the engine compartment. See that burnt gold/purple/blue header... mmm. yummy. lol
