Default OMG my K&N intake is LOUD

Does anybody else think its ridiculously loud or is it just me. Its louder than most cars exhaust at full throttle. Now Im really gonna get crap from my friends about driving an import....The power gain is nice though.

See theres a hard decision for me. I can not decide between K&N or the Secret Weapon R, or wait for the AEM.

i thought the K&N had a deep sound to it... Like I want to stomp the gas and make it growl.

I dont ever find myself trying to drive it slower to hide the sound.

What im trying to say is: Im not embarrased by the sound it makes... It definitlely is alot louder, but I love how it sounds.

it's loud but no gain... i come to realize there is NO gain what so ever on take off..

gain is when ur in 4th doing about 80...

i tested this with a stock tC, a friend of mine did alot of testing.. only time i really pulled away was in 4th doing 80..
we switched cars as well to make sure it's not a driver issue.. same results..

i can't wait until i get some spipes
then i'll notice the gain..

Man, The Instigator, you are lucky you are so close to 4filters.com! I think we odered ours about the same time. Mine just left Cali. I'm guessing but since I live half of the country away I will have to wait till FRIDAY!!!

So you don't like the sound? I have the TRD exhaust and am looking forward to the increased sound! I hope it's crazy loud since it retains the same great exhaust note! I know from the dyno that there is a drop in power between 2.5 and 3.5 rpm, is this a problem that you can really feel? Thats my only main concern as of right now...

I WANNA SEE PICTURES/VIDEOS PEOPLE!

Wait for the AEM so you'll be legal!!! that ways if you get pulled over by a cop and they want to be an *** they cant give you a ticket for it.

It defenitely pulls harder and revs faster at upper RPM which is when its ridiculously loud. As far as getting in trouble, Im more worried about tint and no front plate that I am about a cop looking for a carb sticker under the hood. Another thing you will defenitely notice is the whistle around 2700 RPM. Its very noticeable and a lot of poeple might think you have a turbo.

Its not that I dont like the sound, its just that Im coming off of a Z28 Camaro and Im not used to it. It just reminds me of how the riced out civics sounded when I was kicking thier asses. Now I feel like im one of those guys trying to keep up with a car that has real power .

It doesn't sound ricey in the videos at all. What exhaust do you have? Oh and btw what was the most difficult part of the intall and how long did it take? Do you have to take off the tire? Thanks

I have the stock exhaust and plan on leaving it. It may not sound ricey to you, but Im used to 350 HP V8s. It took me about 45 minutes to do the whole thing but Ive done a lot of work on cars. You do have to take the tire off and pull back the fenderwell to get it in. The hardest part for me was getting the tube from inside the fender to mate up with the intake tube. If I had somebody to help, it would have been easier because i did it all from under the car.

I have some pics of it installed here:

(05_scion_tc) has a thread with videos of the TRD exhaust and intake. https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...=55162&start=0
It's sounds more like a muscle car than a riced out civic. Yeah I understand how you probably feel about the sound and I laugh at rice cars all the time but my exhaust is so above that! LOL But I know where your coming from

Oh and did you throw the CEL?

Ive seen his car and I didnt notice it....but he wasnt getting on it. I put the white LEDs in his mirror lights like mine.

MORE PICS

I can drive it slow though and you cant even tell its got an intake....except for the whistle......which is great for gas mileage but boooring. No CEL either

EDIT: I just watched the vids and it really is much louder in person. His is an auto also and that may make a difference.
