I looking at a few options for my tC, first things first, im looking to add a bit of power to my tC. I definatly cant afford a turbo/super charger atleast this year. Im looking to get a CAI in the next few weeks, and then hopefully and exhaust soon after that. The CAI is already chosen (Injen [black]) but the exhaust is my sticking point.
My current choices (looking for new mid and axel back only, no s or header right now):
Megan Drift spec
Pros: Nice sound, agressive look, high flow, best hp gain out of cat backs (that ive seen), cheap
Cons: Probobly a bit loud, minor fitment issues
Tanabe Concept G (axel back only)
Pros: A++ sound, beautiful design and fitment, bolts up to stock midpipe (can reuse stock system in needed)
Cons: Only axel back, lost hp (i dont know exactly a mid pipe will get me), kind of pricy for an axel-back only
Any advice? I'm a really torn between the look, price, and performance (if there is a huge difference). My choice would be the Megan, but it seems kinda loud!!
The price is basicly the same for the megan or the tanabe, though with the Tan i wont have a aftermarket mid... but it fits soo nice.
I cant make up my mind

TOTALLY understand!!! I've waited this long to get my exhaust and I don't ever plan to get standard headers due to the fact I want to turbo my car. There's nothing wrong with waiting! Just the Anticipation...

The Megan is definitely the cheapest total solution to your problem. However the HP gains that it claims come at the cost of street legality. The "cat back" exhaust by Megan deletes the secondary cat located on the mid pipe which will make you fail emissions testing in most states. If you want to put in a new S-pipe as well as header you are going to have a problem with rasp and fitment. (Megan is known for having poor resonators) Apparently Megan S-pipes don't fit well is Megan mid-pipes. Crazy isn't it? Most Megan owners that go with the whole set-up end up grinding flanges on their pipes to get a proper fitment. Megan also uses wool as a sound dampener, which breaks down rather quickly in humid environments. What that means is your Megan exhaust is going to get louder and louder as time goes on.
However you just can't beat the low price for the whole nine yards.
The Tanabe Concept G is the perfect axel back exhaust for owners that want to understate their car. True, it is only an axel back so there is almost no hp gain. But the Tanabe Concept G is made with Advantex, which is supposed to be a long lasting synthetic sound dampening material. Of course, Advantex hasn't been out that long so no one really knows how long it's going to last. Getting a separate mid-pipe (which will also delete the cat and give you legal problems again) is pricier, but my honest advice is... don't be cheap with your car. The last thing you want to do is to make a price-oriented decision now when you know that you will want to change it up later.
Long story short: go with the Tanabe Concept G and spend more money later on for a mid-pipe and s-pipe. DON'T be cheap, it shows, just look at all the beater rice rockets out there.
i've been using tanabe for a couple of years now, and i won't change.....the sound is nice and low, and you'll get noticed when you want to without trying, and you can be quiet when cops are around...the axle back is a good balance, and integrates perfectly with the tc.....for my old 97 honda pelude, that was a tanabe super medallion racing exhaust......108 db.....now thats too loud.....concept g is definetly the way to go at under 93 db.....pair it with a cai, and you'll have that engine sound you want!
