Price and Potential... Good Base HP, with plenty of potential to grow, a great blank slate performance wise to build a unique and pretty sleeper.

Deffinetly wasnt performance that made me buy it. It was the bang for the buck, the need to be different and the ability to change it.

same as Nick06tc, I didnt buy it for performance. The toys and looks got to me. Although BHP isnt bad, but I wouldnt say the 2AZ has great potential..... it's a rather ordinary engine. Now if the tC could have been had with a 2ZZ, well, I would be sold.

I think 300+ hp in our little tC is potential... It's not a rally car and way too beautiful (and therefore heavy) to be a drag car...

In a few months, I'm sure we'll see even bigger numbers than that, and it's dang fun for those doing it...

I bought my tC a little under a month after rolling and totalling my srt-4. The tC was 5k cheaper, got better gas mileage (on 87 octane to boot), and wouldn't cost me $500 a month for insurance.

plus it looked pretty cool, and i liked the sunroof.

and teh seats folded down gives you alot of room

and the front seats didnt cut of circulation to your legs

but it doesnt throw you back in your seat like the dodge did

i got mine because of the look, at the time i bought it...the uniqueness of the car and rarity of it on the streets(that definitely doesnt apply anymore), the potential that i see in it (not just power), the cost, the mpg rating, i just really liked the car! Honestly, i almost bought the G35 but went with the tC because i have 3 friends with G35's and i wanted a unique car which again, definitely isn't anymore. At least i still got the Eclipse (97 GS-T) to be my unique car. And before people start flaming and complaining about why i chose the tC over the G35, i did!! It was my decision and i chose the tC (and my house) over the G35 (and a townhouse)!

300HP is nice..... but I feel thats largely due to aftermarket support. In this case, almost any engine has potential via engine build up and boost. And that costs a lot of $, money most tC owners dont have and a route they may never take. The head design just wasnt meant for good flow.... of course PnP would help but 2AZ just wasnt meant for high potential IMO. This engine with long stroke and low revs..... well, thats a bit contrary to what a proper sporty engine should be.

i got mine so that i could supercharge it. now it does throw you back in your seat. base performance not too shabby but yea, with a little boost the car really moves.

I got mine more on the "all-round" factor.

The saying usually is, speed/cost/reliability, pick two... but the tC does a good job of balancing them all.

1) It's very reliable for the price.
2) It's pretty quick for the price.

On top of that, the balance is suprisingly good for autoX. I do extremely well for running on crap rubber, 18's, and zero suspension mods. I PAX in the top half, running STS. If I were running HS, I'd probably PAX in the top 10 consistently.

It's not a racecar, but certainly one of the best, most versatile buys for well under $20,000.

Bang for the buck. Nothing comparable at the price point.

good performance with plenty of potential, (I like the displacement, and torque of these engines). and great, sweet, beautifull, sexy, gleaming design. the price was just a bonus.

I wanted one before they came out, unfortunit for me I was in collage and had to wait. I still catch myself just staring at it from time to time. I have taken down several heavy moded hondas with only intake and exhaust. cant wait to go turbo..................................................................................

^^^ depends on what you mean by heavy modded Honda. Any Civic with an engine swap should take a relatively stock tC.

stock vs stock, it's a loss every time.
of course some ppl will say "WTF you talkin about?! I beat a GSR, Honda's suck". But you know what, things happen some may pick up a win, but for the most part, the B18 will win.

i know the gsr has more horsepower and is a little lighter but i also know that we have a lot more torque. but i'll take your word for it.

there is this kid i know who i was messing with who has an older accord with an H22 swap and he had no chance. i never passed him cause i wasn't on a road where i was even gonna try but he couldn't leave me. he said he was givin it all it had most of the time and i was right on his ___ with more throttle to go.
