Default Personal Opinons for Choice of Headers

Im looking to do headers on my tC, but Im not quite sure exactly which ones I wanna get. Ive read a good amount of posts on here about the 3 or 4 major brands ( Megan, WWM, Alpha, and DC) but it doesnt seem like there are much differences between any of them. So if you guys would be cool enough to say what brand you got, the sound quality (which is a big deal for me) after install, how much that particular header messed with your CEL, and how they look. This would defitnely help with my decision making. Im looking for a 4-1 for higher end power, so what do you guys think? I appreciate it.

I too would like to venture into the header world, but have been very very cautious due to the high amount of people getting CEL's throw continously. I am also worried about sound, I have the TRD axelback right now how would it sound.

Any header will sound horrible with the TRD axleback, unless you add a huge resonator or a highflow cat, and it still may sound weird.

I ran the megans and liked them, but I really like the alphawerks headers on the cars I drove with them... (I little more midrange)

The antifouler mod worked perfect for me... never a CEL... so that's not a worry in my perspective....

yea i was planning on doing the anti fouler trick on the lower o2 sensor during the install. I dont have the TRD axel back, just the stock exhaust. What do you think the best sounding and highest hp gains are for headers that fit tCs?

I just recently purchased the Megan Racing header. It threw the CEL but I did the anti-fouler mod and it fixed that problem.

I love the power increase and sound. I have the TRD Axleback and just added a 12 resonator behind the stock resonator and it sounds perfect!

Was that something a exhaust shop welds up or is it bolt on you did yourself, and a 12 resonator?? that 12" or what exactly??

i got a set of headers with an s-pipe and a cel eliminator, but i can't get the time to install them between school and work. they came with sound absorbtion wraps, will that really help keep the car quiet?

Yup its just a 12" resonator from a local exhaust shop. It has to be welded in place. It just reduces the raspy sound that u get after intalling an aftermarket header.

I ended up getting a dual 18" resonator setup put into my midpipe. it sounds good, but i think i need to replace the muffler. it doesnt sound the same as it used to when i first got it

i might actually delete on of the resonators and have a high flow cat welded in seeing as i still get a little rasp.

headers?! We don't have a V6 or V8...it's only called a header...not pluralized...but enough nit picking
Anywhoo, if i ever actually decide on a header (mainly basing it on wether or not i'm going turbo or s/c) i am going with the Strup header...baselines about 13-15whp gain, 23-25 with intake and exhaust, and since it has been redone...no real fitment issued or CEL's from the few people that have it...and Strup makes quality ish

Wow thats a pretty exhaust however those bends CAN'T be good when looking for peak performance out of F/I.... but then again if you're getting headers.... yeah forget I said anything I doubt if you're buying headers you're going F/I

P.S. I have alphawerks and love em And yes I know a few people have headers with their s/c so yeah before anyone said anything

I am running Strup header, Stock S pipe, 2.5" mid pipe with 1 18" resonator then into the strup exhaust. It is a little loud for me. I am putting in another 18" resonator to see if that helps. That is my car and exhaust in those pics. I love the way it looks. Just need to get it alittle quieter.

How about a high flow cat? i heard it works great and eliminates the rasp.
