I know we've got a Thread for Turbo'ing your Auto already, but it doesn't really go anywhere.
How about a New Thread for Turbo Auto Owners to Post their Experiences, and for those Hopeful of Turbo'ing their Auto's (like myself) to Learn off of.
It'd be really cool to stay On Topic.

honestly don't bother to turbo an auto

i have a turbo automatic and am doing a manual swap. unless you throw an extra 5 grand into the transmission you won't get anything out of the auto.

I learned how to Drive Stick, and it's just not for me. I live in Chicago.
I'll be SO Happy with a 275-280whp DD. That's my Goal.

Before this Thread goes Overboard too, remember Guys, its all about what you want out of your Car. Most of the Heavy Hitting Drag Cars are Autos, it just takes lots of Work and Money to Build them up. I've been in touch with IPT on a Game Plan for my tC, and with some Mild Work to my Trans, I'll be able to hit that 300 Mark. Haha'.

Hate to break it to you, but you will not be able to reliably hit 275whp with an Auto. You'll be lucky to reliably hit 240. The auto trans in our car is garbage. If you want the extra power, get a 5-spd.

And don't talk about Top Fuel Dragsters having auto's, we have Scion tCs.

It's just not worth it.

I wasn't sure where it should be, because it's a Combo of A/X and F/I...

275whp won't be a Problem with a Partially Built Trans.
I understand we have tC's, which is why I said it's all about what you want out of your Car. A High Performance Torque Converter and Valve Body Upgrade will be enough to sustain 275whp. Anything over 300whp would Require a Fully Built Trans.

idk about that. I mean, you're right, it is your car, do as you please with it, But turboing an Auto just sounds terrible to me, and not to mention a FWD one. I wouldn't bother.

I like a Challenge. I don't want the Fastest, just that extra Power when I need it.
I knew a Guy with a 97' Auto TSI AWD, with a Shift Box, who has no Problems.
It was Extremely Quick, and the Trans held fine.
No matter what, there's gonna' be a Bias in here from the 5 Speed Owners, that's why I'm hoping to hear from some Turbo'd Auto Owners.
I know they do it, and some love it.

Aren't those turbo from the factory? If so then yeah of course it's going to hold up fine. The trans isn't the only problem though. After a certain point you're going to run into traction issues with or without a built trans. Not to mention you don't have the option for an LSD like the 5spd guys. It's not the greatest idea but its your car.

Yeah, but it wasn't Stock at all.
I'm definitely not digging the Negativity towards Turbo'ing an Auto.
The few I've seen do it are really Positive towards it.
It depends on how you Drive too, I mean, I'm likely to Drive around in Vaccuum and only let it rip on the E-Way.

well if it was factory turbo then it had plenty of advantages over the tC right there. AWD means its going to have better traction and the trans is going to more likely be able to take a bigger beating before actually going out. LIke I said though..its your car

Yeah, I understand. A buddy of mine is running a Hahn Stage II Kit on his 1998 GS Auto, and its still holding strong. I was planning on the same before mine fell apart. I mean, what's wrong with trying? Believe me, I'll be in touch with everyone before I Boost. I'm not just some stupid kid who wants to go fast.

straight up going to tell you that the most dsm cars had hella strong auto trannies.

Talk to KRDshark. He's probably most accessible on Scikotics. He's running a turboed auto and is pretty happy with it.
