Default Is This Possible? Dumb/Interesting Question

just was sittin around the other day thinking of ways to gain power on a N/A tc. Well i was wondering if it was possible to connect an intercooler with out a turbo setup. Like have the intercooler act sorta a cold air intake....Would this work? Please dont bash this, if you think its dumb just keep ur comment to ur self. I was just wondering about this for a while....

No this wont help in any way. You will actually lose power from all the extra piping, and bends. And it would be a PITA you route the piping. Just get a cold air intake, or a short ram intake.

the reasons why turbo and supercharged cars have intercoolers is because the compressing air heats it up alot, so the intercooler is there to cool it down.

the purpose of cold air intakes are to draw in cooler air from outside the engine compartment, and since it doesn't get compressed, it doesn't need to be intercooled since it won't get any cooler then the ambient air temperature anyway.

Even if an intercooler did net some cooler/denser air, the gain would be offset by the added weight

[this sounds like a job for nitrous.]

It would not yeild any gain only a loss because of the extra restriction of the air and how hard the engine would have to work to get it, with turbo the boost pushes it though the intercooler.
