Default ram air kit

i just installed the weapon r ram air kit that goes with the secret weapon(no more CEL) and it's awesome. it was a nice, cold and windy day on Long Island, so i spent the day tearing up and down the LIE. definitely would recommend it, only problem is that it's kinda annoying to install. there's not really a great spot to mount it, so i had to do some drilling. rain, and rocks aren't much of an issue because the ram air kit has it's own "filter" and the tube runs to the secret weapon filter. i put the ram air scoop through the wheel well where the stock tube ran and then mounted it into the fake air vent on the bottom left next to the fog light. i drilled holes into the air vent cover so that it doesn't look like there's a wide open hole.

i got the intake for $240 and the ram air kit for $50. i think that creative compacts has the intake for $180(cheapest anywhere). i'll try to take pics over the weekend because to take them of where i mounted the ram air scoop, i have to take the coverinng off the bottom of the car. here's the weapon r link:

http://www.weapon-r.com/home.html

go to intakes and then the enhancements stuff. the cold air box is what i really want.
mahalzkita has it and he says it pretty good, only prob is that it's not available yet-he has the prototype.

and the creative compacts link:

Something like that... but not really.

All of your cars sensors are monitored by the ECU. Each sensor measures something differently, and each one has a certain range of "acceptable" measures. A cell is thrown if one of those sensors either a.) fails or b.) reads something that way out of range. The car may or may not go into a "limp" mode depending on the severity of the offending sensor reading.

The ECU won't throw a cell if you've got a higher air flow in or out of the engine. When you put an aftermarket intake or exhaust on you're increasing the flow of air to and from the engine. A car engine is just a big air pump. By definition to gain power you have to make your pump work faster and/or harder by flowing air through it faster... be it compressing more air with a single stroke - cooler air compresses more than warmer air, which is more dense, hence gains from a cold air intake vs a warm air intake - for example.

You might throw a code with an aftermarket part if the designer of that part didn't take into account the sensors that are in or around that part - for example a header design that doesn't take into account a stock cat, so your O2 sensors before and after the cat get reading that are out of range beacuse the cat's not there (like the DC Sports one).... or an intake design that fails to take into account the need for a mass air flow sensor. You could also have the ECU throw you a cell if you damage one of those sensors when installing an aftermarket part... which I've done before trying to get an exhaust off (O2 sensors aren't cheap).

Where's the best place on line to buy the Ram Air Kit for the Weapon R SW intake?
I'm thinking i might as well buy that too so i can install both intake and ram air kit at the same time. or not hmmmm

Oh yah, and i see they have different colors for the Ram Air Kit Hose, where is the cheapest place to get the Chrome version. i've found them only at eautoworks, but its $61 shipped and there's still tax for CA (or is that cheap?)

Or you could get the AEM intake installed for under $300.00, and save your warranty.

AEM is taking too long. And i like DIY Projects. And it will not void warranty unless it is proven that it caused some sort of problem, which i doubt it would.

If there is demand for the Ram Air Kit.... We do sell it for $54 and could add it to the site... I personally have not installed one on a tC so could offer no technical information on it at this time.
